Captain John W. Heard On the riiie range, every cadet had the opportunity to apply the principles of good marksmanship. How well these were applied was amply demonstrated by the commendable showing of the cadet rifle team in inter- scholastic competition. And not to be outdone by the boys, the girls also formed a rifle team. Cadets received instruction in map reading, hygiene and first aid, military organization, infantry tactics, and infantry weapons, customs and courtesies. The climax of the yearly program was the formal Military Ball at Maluhia, Fort De Russey where cadets with their best girls joined in a Grand March and thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere of a military social.
