Department The core curriculum, must not only ielp the student in maturing his social udgments and habits and in under- standing and appreciating his own :ivilization, it must inform him, provide iim with materials and methods of learning. The course in core studies makes use mf historical development and empha- sizes a broad historical knowledge, but t must be thoroughly modern in its Jreadth of view and its attention to all significant events, personalities, move- nents and ideas which have a share in American life.
