Parent flight Each year the nation’s schools set aside the second week in November as American Education Week. During this time, they make a special effort to acquaint the public with its schools. This year, Parents’ Night was held at the Farrell Senior High School, on Tuesday, November 8, from seven thirty to nine o’clock. On this night approximately four hundred parents and friends visited our school. At seven thirty the students presented an educational program depicting the various activities of the school. Participating in this program were representatives of the various classes and clubs: Narrator—Robert Steiner, Senior Class— Merle Krickich, Junior Class—Thomas Kovach, Sophomore Class—James Marks, Thespians—Bernard Berks, Tri-Hi-Y—Eleanor Nicastro, Hi-Y—Robert Price, Language Clubs—Robert Somich, R. T. Y.’s—Dolores Juranovich, Homemakers Club—Shirley Scott. Library Staff—Michelene Gagliardi, Projectionists—Manuel Joanou, Office Assistants—Marlene Schultz, Attendance Staff—Mary Hansley, Cheerleaders—Jane Allen, Athletic Department—Herbert Williams, Night Rider —Alvin Ackerman. The band and the chorus also rendered several selections. After the program, the parents visited the different rooms and teachers and saw demonstrations in art, clothing construction, food preparation, chemistrv, visual education, mechanical drawing, physics, cosmetology, typewriting, office practice, library science, and publishing a school paper. Then they went to the cafeteria and had refreshments. Thus ended another Parents’ Night in Farrell High School. 20
