We entered high school full of pep, green as grass, but willing to learn. There were sixteen of us altogether, those still in the :lass now, besides Herbert Rushton, Beulah Wyatt, Graydon Shillito, Pearl Allison, Lillian Coon, and Lloyd Coon. We were one of the largest classes to enter Farnhamville High School. The Faculty was Prof. H. I. Carrel, Miss Hanks and Miss Honetschlager, who was our Domestic Science instructor. We wonder if she has found another class ,who could wash sherbet glasses as well f?J as we did? ' SOPHOMORE YEAR When we came back in the fall of '19, live of our members failed to show up. One new addition was made, as Mary Priestley joined us and stayed until Christmas of 1921. This year the Faculty was Prof. Carrel,. Miss Cozzens and Miss Strand. We also indulged in class color fights this year, much to the grief of some of the Seinors of '20 fask 'lErnie" Dchrman and "Doc" Erritt how they got down from the roofj. We even shone in athletics, when Clarence Scharff and Lowell Allison became first "teamers." JUNIOR YEAR In 1920 we enteled as Juniors and a more happy-go-lucky, fun-loving class would be hard to find. The Faculty remained unchanged except that Miss Keller took the place of Miss Strand, with whom we "stumbled" through Caesar. The most im- portant social event of this year was the banquet which we gave the Seniors of '21. Did any: ne whisper 'LWhen do we eat the nuts?" SENIOR YEAR In 1921, We came in a very select, exclusive, dignified bunch. There was a com- plete change of Faculty, it consisting of Prof. Ballard, Miss Briggs and Miss Hen- derson. A more "peppy" bunch of H. S. teachers could not be found. Hard work was administered in large doses, in the form of a Carnival. COur ice cream would have been quite a success if Rye and Scry hadn't swallowed the junket and drank the vanillaj We also put out our "Mirage" in which Vida demonstrated her genius by editing an "ode" entitled "Ivory cr Wood, Which? ffound elsewhere in this book. This class has always put the "Purple and Gold on top. 1922 l- MIRAGE -l-- 1922 Gllasz- nam We spent these years together Mixing victory with defeat, It's a simple way of learning Take the bitter with the sweet. II And thus as our bark we're unmooring tcday, And hope breathes a. fluttering wind, No joys in the future regret can allay, For those we are leaving behind. All brightly they shine in memory's sheen, As cliffs in the tints of the morn, No pleasures before us more dimless and keen, Than those that shall never return. III But duty calls onward. A sigh for the past, And a cheer for the great gone before! Still upward and onward we'll climb, till at last The laurels are ours which they wore. Here's a hand, brothers all! with the heart as we go, And a friendship we never must stain, And these halls that as boys, we may ne'er again know, Hereafter shall hear of us men. -- 1922 -- MIRAGE --- 1922 -- Ulas,-5 iprnplqeng In 1932 when Supt. They have made a good showing and we should be proud of them. The success of the team lies mostly in the hands of Mr. Ballard, who is a lover of athletics, and who has done his best to place our team at the foremost rank. The energy and enthusiasm with which he put the boys into the game is what has made them a strong and formidable team, one which is to make the tournament a fast game. -T 1922 1- MIRAGE ? 1922 -- Owing to lack of experience on out-of-door courts, our boys were defeated by both Auburn and Gowrie our first two games. After a few more defeats our boys met with good success, by winning a series of games from some of the strongest teams in the county. The only defeat to marr this good record is the defeat en- countered at Harcourt. Here a. short encounter was held after the game, between our center and a Harcourt boy. Their worst defeat was at Auburn, the score being 39 to 10 in favor of Auburn. Their easiest game of the season was with Yetter, the score being 60 to 7 in favor of the home team. Farnh amvi1le+13. The team, accompanied by a number of rooters, journeyed to scranton for our first real game. The girls put forth a hard fight but were defeated by a score of 21 to 4. Jolley vs. F. H. S. This game was played on the opponent's Hoor. The teams were very Well matched and neither side had the honor of winning as the score was 15 to 15. 1- 1922 -- MIRAGE.. -- 1922 -- Harcourt vs. F. H. S. The next game was staged with Harcourt on the home floor. This was a scrappy game but our opponents were defeated by a score of 24 to 16. Rockwell City vs. F. H. S. This game was played in the Rockwell City gymnasium. Our girls were beaten badly owing to the absence of one of the best players and the size of the Hoor. At the close of the game the score stood 32 to 6. Jolley vs. Farnhamville Our next game was staged on the home floor. The other game with Jolley being a tie, both teams were out to win and the game proved to be quite thrilling, ending. with a. score of 25 to 15 in favor of Jolley. Rockwell City vs. Farnhamvllle Rockwell City returned our game on January 13. It was a real peppy game, the girls holding their opponents to a, score of 13 to 11 in favor of Rockwell City. But we were defeated in the last half by a score of 45 to 20. Rinaml vs. Farnhamville Owing to so much competition between the two schools both teams were determined to win. The game was good and lively throughout, ending with a score of 16 to 14 in favor of Rinard. Billard vs. Farnhamvillo Rinard returned our game the follcwing week and after a brief struggle were badly defeated by a score of 21 to 16. Harcourt vs. F. H. S.
