Our exploring class of 136 members was subiected to the mercy of the Seniors during the initia- tion period. As Homecoming drew near, the class busted itself with float building under the direction of our class officers: Charlene Dicks, Linda Watkins, and Tom Kepple. Homecoming attendants were Betsy Fog- liani, and Paula Frank. To conclude the year's activi- ties, we hosted the Freshman-Eighth Grade Dance. In our second year at F.C.H.S. we were led by Pete Banys, Linda Suydam, and John Whited. Bonnie Welch and Jean Vaira attended the Homecoming queen. Al- though the Sophomore year held no important social event, arduous labor and time-spending thought were spent in raising money for the coming year. As upperclassmen, we were led very competently by all male officers. These officers aided our class in pro- ducing a very enioyable and original Homecoming en- titled Disneyland. We were also able to win second place with our fioat, Beat 'Em. The Homecoming Queen was attended by Betty Michela and Linda Wat- kins. In November, the iunior class play, The Choco- late Soldier, was presented as a very thrilling and enjoyable event. The most popular event of the season, Prom, at long last arrived as we presented Song of India. Those in attendance will always remember that wonderful evening. In the fall of 1964, 101 eager students entered for a final year which proved to be a busy one. At last our long-awaited opportunity to take revenge on the freshmen came, and we chose as our theme the Roar- ing 'Twenties. For the first time, our Homecoming float, We're Expecting a Win, won first place. The Home- coming Queen, Bonnie Welch, and King, Emilio Or- donez, were attended by Betsy Fogliani and Reka Gibbs. After a short but wonderful year of social events and cramming for tests, we bid adieu to our beloved F.C.H.S. as students for the final time on graduation night. This lsflwwofdlcbogaf ' Miss Stewart's College Prep class attempts to improve their reading speed. The new language labora- tory is pui to use by Mrs. VcmDoren and her French students. at-.Q 3 221: .1 'N' , ng' I V, yn., J we Charlene Dicks does not seem too concerned about Civil War strategy being pointed out fo Bill Siepel by Mr. Frankson. In Novemloer the auditorium shook with laughter when the class presented their play, We Shook the Family Tree. Entering only the minimum number f5l of runners in most meets, Farmington's harriers still managed to compile a formidable 8-I record. The Farmers had recorded seven straight victories before falling to previously defeated Bushnell-Prairie City. The lllio Cross-Country Meet was this year's high- light. Coach Ellberg's harriers snatched the title from the reigning Morton Potters by a score of 35- 43. The Farmers placed all five runners in the top ten. The final meet of the year against Limestone pro- duced a new school record of iO:lO by Walt Dare. Bill Dare also broke Walt's existing record with a time of lO:i9. These two words presented the seniors' concept of initiation, for this was the day when the sen- iors showed their authority over the green freshies. The theme of initiation was the Roaring Twenties. On this day there was an array of costumes ranging from the flappers to old-fashioned bartenders. The freshmen met their superiors that dear ole morn- ing with a generous supply ot goodies. The lowly sub- iects hacl to obey their masters of the day until the morn- ing bell. They had such tasks as kissing fellow freshies, putting make-up on their faces, and holding pennies be- tween their noses. The future farmers wore their costumes to their morn- ing classes but were able to become themselves again at lunch hour. At this Cinderella hour the green freshies were ofticial members of Farmington Community High School. Now they could be referred to as true Farmers. All this has helped to make my being in Farmington more wonderful than I could have ever dreamed. Because all of you have helped to make Farmington nearer my heart and have helped me 'ro better identify myself with the North American people, I wish to say that, although the time has come for me to leave, part of myself will never cease in belonging to you. There is now a part of my heart that will love you forever. There are no words to ex- press all the good that I wish for you, but I hope that you will understand me now as well as you forced yourselves to when my speaking problems made it difficult.
