SENIOR CLASS HISTORY On a bright, sunshiny day in the fall of 1960 we creatures, commonly known as Freshmen, breahed a sigh—perhaps a rather frightened sigh —as we gallantly trudged up to the steps to enter Falls City High School, which was soon to become so very much a part of our lives. Under the able guidance of our sponsors, Mr. Peterson and Mr. Eckman, we were soon on our way to achieving great tasks. Our first big task was the election of our officers: Bill Beasing, President; Jim Schatz, Vice-President; Cherie Comfort, Secretary-Treasurer; and Cindy Sutter and Dale Vice, members of the Activities Committee. Our scholastic ability was proven by the following Honor Roll students: Nancy Barker, David Cummins, Linda Horn, Linda Kiekhaefer, Judy Klaus, Judy Merz, John Metzger, Donald Saal, Ruth Schaible, Gay Snethen, and Ernie Strasil. Lettering in Band were Bill Beasing, Barbara Frost, Ed Hunzeker, John Metzger, Dan Radley, Donald Saal, Kathy Schuler, Matt Sikora, Lowell Stitzer, Carol Sorensen, Linda Strasil, and Judy Windle. Lawrence Kirkendall lettered in football. Going to the District Music Contest at Peru were Celise Alton, Nancy Barker, Donald Baxter, Bill Beasing, Linda Buckminster, Glenda Clark, Cherie Comfort, Barbara Frost, Linda Horn, Barbara Hunker, Ed Hunzeker, Linda Kiekhaefer, Janet Klaus, Judy Klaus, John Metzger, James Richey, Sharon Rieger, Donald Saal, Ruth Schaible, Kathy Schuler, Matt Sikora, Gay Snethen, Carol Sorensen, Ruth Steinman, Lowell Stitzer, Linda Strasil, and Judy Windle. Having completed our freshman year with some signs of success, we were, nevertheless, relieved and happy when we became sophomores without serious mishap. We chose as our leaders Linda Buckminster, President; Ernie Strasil, Vice-President; David Cummins, Secretary-Treasurer; and Cherie Comfort and Judy Windle, members of the Activities Committee. Our class sponsors were Miss Ehemberger and Miss Jorn. Our representatives on the Honor Roll were Glenda Clark, Marsha Cramer, David Cummins, Gloria Jilek, Linda Kiekhaefer, Janet Klaus, Judy Klaus, Judy Merz, John Metzger, Sharon Rieger, Donald Saal, Ruth Schaible, and Gay Snethen. Further proving our mental ability were those going to the Peru Scholastic Contest: David Cummins, Janet Klaus, Judy Klaus, John Metzger, Donald Saal, Ruth Schaible, and Jackie Swegler. Our class was well represented in the music department with the following attending the District Music Contest: Nancy Barker, Donald Baxter, Bill Beasing, Linda Buckminster, Glenda Clark, Cherie Comfort, Barbara Frost, Bob Grantham, Linda Horn, Barbara Hunker, Ed Hunzeker, Linda Kiekhaefer, Lawrence Kirkendall, Janet Klaus, Judy Klaus, John Metzger, James Richey, Sharon Rieger, Donald Saal, Ruth Schaible, Ed Scholl, Kathy Schuler, Matt Sikora, Gay Snethen, Carol Sorensen, Ruth Steinman, Lowell Stitzer, Linda Strasil, and Judy Windle. Receiving letters in Band were Nancy Arm-bruster, Barbara Frost, Bob Grantham, Ed Hunzeker, Janet Klaus, Judy Klaus, John Metzger, Dan Radley, James Richey, Donald Saal, Ed Scholl, Kathy Schuler, Matt Sikora, Carol Sorensen, Lowell Stitzer, Linda Strasil, and Judy Windle. Our athletes were John Adams, lettering in football; Bill Beasing, football; Ed Carlson, track; David Cummins, track; Dennis Heinzelman, golf; Lawrence Kirkendall, football and track; Ernie Strasil, football and basketball; Jim Titus, football; and Ken Wamsley, track. The next year we strutted into F.C.H.S. gs upperclassmen. Half of our high school career was over, but the best was yet to come. We elected the following as our class officers: President, Jim Mc-Neely; Vice-President, Jim Schatz; Secretary, Bill Beasing; Treasurer, David Cummins; and Activities Committee members, Dennis Heinzelman, Judy Merz, and Gay Snethen. Our class sponsors were Mrs. George and Mrs. Sylten. Those Honor Roll “bookworms were Marsha Cramer, David Cummins, Gloria Jilek, Paula Jones, Linda Kiekhaefer, Janet Klaus, Judy Klaus, John Metzger, Donald Saal, Ruth Schaible, Jean Weinert, and Judy Windle.
