not cover the costs of all the expenses. On April 28 we honored the Seniors, the faculty, and the Board of Education with an elegant banquet and dance. Our theme was “Under the Big Top”; Larry Ketter was the Head Ringmaster. Margaret Lewis gave a welcome and David Weaver, Senior class president, gave the response. It was one of the most colorful and most enjoyed banquets in years. Those who made the Honor Roll were Jane Rude, Carol Vogele, Virginia Bowman, Joyce Pflaum, Don Dorr, Larry Ketter, Alan Tubach, Don Linscott, Wayne Morris, Ann (Stout) Kelley, Phyllis Hahn, Eleanor Motsinger, Margaret Smith, Bill Dykes, David Joy, and Margaret Lewis. Members of the F. F. A. were John Werner, Kenneth Zentner, Wilbur Chestnut, Don Rieschick, Robert Howe, Dennis Merz, and Donald Kirkendall With this we completed a most successful and eventful year. On September — we began our last nine month stretch after a three month rest. Among our new leaders, we had a new principal — new to us that is. With the help of our sponsors, Mr. Sympson, Mr. and Mrs. Cummins, Mr. Jones, and Mr. Person, we elected our class officers: Larry Ketter, president; Don Dorr, vice-president; Carol Downey, secretary-treasurer; and Eldon Baker, LaMarr Gibson, and Sheila Kessler, activity committee. And we were off . . . Those who were on the Honor Roll for the last time in their high school career were: Virginia Bowman, Donald Dorr, Carol Downey, Bill Dykes, Francis Ferguson, David Joy, Sheila Kessler, Larry Ketter, Margaret Lewis, Don Linscott, Joyce Pflaum, Jane Rude, Karen Shulenberg, Margaret Smith, Alan Tubach, Carol Vogele, and John Werner. Eleanor (Motsinger) Campbell, Joyce Pflaum, and Diane Shipley were the cheerleaders from the senior class. Football letter winners were Bill Dykes, LaMarr Gibson, Larry Ketter, Donald Linscott, Jerry Lunsford, John Werner, and Roger West; awards to basketball players were LaMarr Gibson, Jim Fisher, and Larry Ketter; tracksters expected to win letters are John Werner, Don Linscott, Larry Ketter, Jerry Lunsford, and Ervin James. Representatives to the District Music Contest were Don Dorr, David Joy, Kenneth Zentner, Larry Ketter, LaMarr Gibson, Eldon Baker, Carol Downey, Diane Shipley, Karen Shulenberg, Beverly Bauer, Carol Vogele, Jane Rude, Mid Vogele, Virginia Bowman, Nancy Darling, Margaret Lewis, Margaret Smith and Jim Fisher. Some of us were heard in all sorts of dramatics, even at the District Speech Contest. Those making the trip to Peru were Diane Shipley, Virginia Bowman, Beverly Bauer, Jane Rude, Bill Dykes, Margaret Lewis, Alan Tubach and Larry Vinsonhaler. The boys were not the only letter winners. In G. A. A. Carol Downey, Nancy Darling, Sheila Kessler, Margaret Lewis, Retta Moore, Eleanor (Motsinger) Campbell, Joyce Pflaum, Diane Shipley and Margaret Smith won their Second State awards. Karen Shulenberg won her First State Award. G. A. A. officers were Diane Shipley, Eleanor (Motsinger) Campbell, Margaret Lewis, Carol Downey, Margaret Smith and Nancy Darling. The Orange and Black Staff is composed of many departments, and Larry Ketter, editor, appointed these various positions to the following people: Jane Rude, Business Manager; LaMarr Gibson, Assistant Editor; Carol Vogele and Carol Downey, Assistant Business Managers; John Werner, Class Prophecy; Don Dorr, Class Will; Margaret Lewis, Class History; Eldon Baker, Snapshots; Don Linscott, Athletics; Joyce Pflaum, Typist and Girl’s Physical Education; David Joy, Instrumental Music; Virginia Bowman, Vocal Music; and Diane Shipley, Academics. On May 14 we presented the senior class play, “Father Knows Best,” with a cast of seventeen people. They are as follows: Dennis Steadman, Margaret Lewis, Jane Rude, Virginia Bowman, Don Dorr, Nancy Darling, Beverly Bauer, Carol Vogele, Carol Downey, Diane Shipley, Mid Vogele, LaMarr Gibson, Larry Ketter, Eldon Baker, Don Rieschich, John Werner, Jim Fisher. May 4 we were honored guests of the Junior Class at their banquet which had a Centennial Theme. Eleanor Campbell was elected by the seniors to represent Falls City at the Halloween Festival at Hiawatha. We chose “Not Finished, Just Begun” as our class motto and blue aster as our class flower, and blue and silver as our class colors. The seventeenth of May Class Day Exercises were held and that was the last day of school for the seniors. May 26 Baccalaureate Services were held, and on May 31 we received our diplomas at the Commencement Services held at the High School Auditorium thus signifying successful completion of our high school education.

SENIOR CLASS HISTORY by Margaret Lewis On a bright sunny day in September a group of eighty-four students made their first trip to the building where secondard education is taken up. We were freshmen in other words, and we were pretty fresh, too. With the help of our sponsors, Mrs. Kline and Mr. Jeffers, we elected the following class officers: Larry Ketter, president; Diane Shipley, vice-president; Joyce Pflaum, secretary-treasurer; and Carol Downey and Bob Dougherty, student activities. Those on the Honor Roll were: Donna Brocker, Donald Dorr, Carol Downey, Phyllis Hahn, David Joy, Larry Ketter, Margaret Lewis, Wayne Morris, Eleanor Motsinger, Joyce Pflaum, Edwina Poteet, Donald Rie-schick, Diane Shipley, Roger Speers, Dennis Steadman, and Ann Stout. Those attending the District Music Contest at Peru and Band Day at Lincoln were Marie Robinson, Ann Stout, Don Dorr, Ronnie Hill, Velma Speers, David Joy, Beverly Bauer, and Dennis Steadman. A large percentage of the boys participated in the sports field. Jere Cochran won a basketball letter, and Don Linscott won a track letter. The remaining part of our class participated in Homemaking, Girls’ and Boys’ Physical Education, F. F. A., and Trades and Industries. On May 25, 1954, we completed the first of four years in which we were to spend in the “brick hospital for the feeble minded.” After a rest of three months, we returned to F. C. H. S. as sophomores on a rainy September Monday morning. Between trips to third floor, we elected our class officers: LaMarr Gibson, president; Sheila Kessler, vice-president; Ann Stout, secretary-treasurer; Nancy Darling and Bill Dykes, activity committee. This year we were very well represented in the extra-curricular activities. In the Band Department David Joy was on the Executive Board; Ann Stout, Beverly Bauer, Dee Ann Vonderschmidt, Don Dorr, Velma Speers, David Joy, Ronald Hill, and Vanetta Sutter went to Peru to attend the District Band Contest. Those who attended the District Vocal Contest were Edwina Poteet, Beverly Bauer, Kenneth Zentner, Don Dorr, Eldon Baker, Rodger Speers, Kay Bauer, Jane Rude, Don Johnson, Dennis Steadman. Edwina Poteet was a member of the Dozenettes. Nancy Darling was elected the first G. A. A. officer from our class. Jere Cochran and LaMarr Gibson won football letters and Jere also won a basketball award. Members of the F. F. A. were Wilbur Chestnut, Kenneth Zentner, John Werner, Dennis Merz, Robert Howe, Gary Goll, Ronald Kirkendall, and Don Rie-schick. Those who showed their intellectual ability being on the Honor Roll were Joyce Pflaum, Edwina Poteet, Jane Rude, Diane Shipley, Margaret Lewis, Ann Stout, Eleanor Motsinger, and David Joy. With this we left F. C. H. S. for three months to recover from the biology brain washing we received from Miss Shook. We re-entered the sacred institution for the third consecutive year. Those who led us to victory in many fields also helped us with our class activities. Our sponsors were Miss Shook, Miss Fase, Mrs. Hahn, Mrs. Kinkead, and Mr. Person. Our class officers were: Margaret Lewis, president; Eleanor Motsinger, vice-president; Joyce Pflaum, secretary-treasurer; and Diane Shipley, Jim Fisher, and Larry Ketter, activity committee. Students attending Band Day at Lincoln, Peru Band Clinic, and District Music Contest at Peru were Virginia Bowman, Carol Vogele, Diane Shipley, Jane Rude, Nancy Darling, Beverly Bauer, Margaret Smith, Margaret Lewis, David Joy, Don Dorr, and Dee A nr. Vonderschmidt. Students participating and winning awards in the Peru Speech Contest were Virginia Bowman, and Jerry Lunsford. We saw athletic ability in our high school go down in history with the winning of the Class “A” Basketball State Championship. Those who made the trip to the Lincoln tournaments were Don Campbell, LaMarr Gibson, and Larry Ketter. Football letter winners were John Werner, Bill Dykes, LaMarr Gibson, Larry Ketter, Donald Linscott, Jerry Lunsford, and Roger West. Track award placers were John Werner, Ervin James, Larry Ketter, and Don Linscott. Werner qualified in the state meet in the 440-yard dash. Under the direction of Mrs. Gatz, we presented our class play — “Curtain Going Up.” The cast was made up of Virginia Bowman, Joyce Pflaum, Carol Vogele, Don Law, Don Linscott, Dennis Merz, Sheila Kessler, Vanetta Sutter, Diane Shipley, Jane Rude, Geraldine Koester, Eldon Baker, Kenneth Zentner, Eleanor Motsinger, Gary Goll, Larry Ketter, John Werner, LaMarr Gibson, Don Dorr, Louise Schnute, Alice Eickoff, Nancy Darling, Margaret Lewis, Margaret Smith, Bill Dykes, Gerald Peck, Don Rieschick, Beverly Bauer, Lois Finner, and Carol Downey. Junior Girls who won their First State Awards were Joyce Pflaum, Kay Eickoff, Diane Shipley, Eleanor Motsinger, Carol Downey, Nancy Darling, Sheila Kessler, Margaret Lewis, Margaret Smith, and Retta Moore. Diane Shipley and Eleanor Motsinger were on the cheerleading squad. Falls City High School’s delegates to Cornhusker Girls’ and Boys’ County Government were: Kenneth Zentner, Jane Rude, Diane Shipley, John Werner, Carol Downey, Harold Hooper, LaMarr Gibson, Joyce Pflaum, Larry Ketter, Roger West, Don Linscott, Francis Ferguson, Gerald Peck, and Robert Howe; Margaret Lewis was Falls City’s representative to Cornhusker Girls’ State Government at Lincoln. Throughout the basketball season we raised money for our Banquet by taking over the concessions since our class was so small and since our class dues would

Larry Ketter returned from his annual trip around the world to see how American women compare with the women of other nations. He says his work is really quite boring!!!! Ronnie Kirkendall is the president of the Sod Buster’s School Bus Line. He used to just be a driver of one of the buses. Margaret Lewis is an instructor in Retta Moore’s Personal Development School. Her famous course teaches young women how to raise one eyebrow. Donald Linscott is a professor at Oklahoma University to which he recently returned after investigating the Mau Maus in Africa. Eleanor Motsinger Campbell and Carol Vogele run a beauty shop in Tuxedo Junction for the cowboys coming in off the range. Joyce Pflaum is the new hostess on Ding Dong School. Her show is now international. Roger Martenj, Dennis Merz, and David Messer are a featured vocal trio with national fame because of their newest hit “Daddy-o, Wkjr’d You Do Me Wrong. Wayne Morris and Gerald Peck are famed psychologists at Chicago University after being inspired by Mr. Sympson Jane Rude runs a big advertising agency in Chicago after all the experience she had in high school in selling ads for tile F. C Annual, Louise Schnute and Dee Ann Vonderschmidt have a candy score on Fifth Avenue in New York City called. Sweets for Your Sweety. Donald. Eieshick. Terrance Ramsey, and Alan Robb have a string of grocery scores called the Three R’s,. specialising in quality meats. Gary Richmond and James Richmond have dance studios in the U. and South America. Their style of the calypso dance has taken the younger and even the older generation by storm. Diane SJnpiey has her column published throughout ;ie U. A and Europe. Her advice for teenagers and to those with love problems has brought the percentage of juvenile delinquents to practically nil. Margaret Sinitil always has wanted to be a nurse. Well, L see she is getting her wish by caring for her L:i children who are ill. Mildred Vogele is the new music readier at Fails City High. She has quite a few students who make her wish she had never tried to teach music to teenagers. Roger Speers and Kenneth Centner are bell boys at the Bel .kir Hotel in Houston, Texas. Allan Tubach and Roger West are managers of the New York Yankees. Vernon Bletdier is their bat boy.
