One of the most popular departments of Fairview High was Industrial Arts. One of the classes offered, Jewelry, had quite a few participants, each creating jewelry for his own personal use or to sell in the flea market. Some other in- dustrial arts classes offered were draft- ing, crafts, and wood. The shop classes gave students a chance to use their tal- ents and at the same time earn a little money. Boys and girls had equal opportunities to learn how to maintain their cars this year in Mr. Sherman's Car Classes. Stu- dents learned how to change tires, so no more help by the side of the road girls! Students were also taught how to budget their money for gas, which should come in handy with the foreseen gas shortage. One would suppose the boys had an ideal opportunity to show off their knowledge in this class, but due to the liberized woman, it was often the other way around. S. Briscoe and A.
