Meanwhile, The knighTs grew resfless for baTTles. One evening Mordred found Guene- vere and LanceloT Togefher in her cham- bers. Lancelof escaped buf lviordred capfured Guenevere. The courT Tried and senTenced her To burn aT The sTake. AT The lasT momenf, Lanceloi' rescued Guenevere and They fled To France, Thus forcing Arfhur To make war on his friend. JusT before The baTTle, Arfhur meT Guenevere and LanceloT. Because of his greaT love for his wife and friend The generous King forgave Them boTh. lvlomenfs before The baTTle began, The King discovered a young sfowaway who wished To ioin The Round Table. Charles Condo- mine opened AcT l by revealing his desire To wriTe a book on seances. l-le soon discovered ThaT a cerTain Madame ArcaTi possessed psychic Torces, and in- viTed her and some Triends To a seance. During The seance, Madame ArcaTi produced Charles' TirsT wiTe, Elvira, who had recenTly died oT pneumonia. Mr. Condomine alone visualized Elvira. lm- mediaTely, a conTlicT arose beTween his exisTing wiTe RuTh and Elvira. ln Two desperaTe aTTempTs To murder Charles, Elvira succeeded only in in- juring The maid and in killing RuTh. Hoping To dispose OT Elvira, Mr. Con- domine held a second seance. lnsTead, his dead wiTe RuTh maTerialized. BliThe SpiriT ended wiTh The maid's psychic abiliTies disposing oT The Two ghosTs.
