Dave Weaver. Will Liebscher. Symphonic Band concerts denote heights Mr. Wesley Haines directs as all his ettorts are concentrated toward achieving a highly successtul pertormance. Consisting ot a tull-tamily ot woodwind, brass, and percussion instruments, the Fairmont West Sym- phonic Band plays selections ranging trom classical to contemporary worlcs. Highlighting the musical season is the winter con- cert given in February. Featuring guest artist, Don- ald Sinta, an internationally lcnown saxophone virtuoso, the band pertormed such audience-winning numbers as Concertino tor Alto Saxophone by Benson, Adagio and Samba by Whitney, and West Side Story by Bernstein. West's ninety-two members ot the band partici- pate in district and state contests as well as malcing guest appearances. Annually, band members submit original compositions in competition tor a scholarship ot up to two hundred dollars which is donated by the parents. Under the competent direction ot Mr. Wesley Haines and his assistant, Mr. David Finlcam, the Symphonic Band pertorms to heights ot excellence in all ot its endeavors.
