MacFarland, Mr. C. A. Moyer, Mr. G. L. Ernst, Mr. R. M. Krebs, Mr. C. F. Nickels, and Mr. W, E. Eickman, less one prominent member, Mr. G. H. Streithorst. Such prob- lems as keeping pace with the rapidly expanding community of Kettering and the great mass volume of details required for the operation of a school system of five elementary schools, soon to number seven, a huge junior high, and a senior high school, are what the board has to cope with daily. Mrs. Githens Mr. Flatter Princgbcll mm' Counselors Mr. Flatter and Mrs. Githens are Fairrnont's two ad- vising counselors. Their job plays a big role in the lives of the students, as it is important to have under- standing as well as learning. They give advice on subjects to be taken the next year, information and advice pertaining to college or a job, advice on per- sonal problems and extra-curricular activities. They work hard to make the student's life at Fairmont en- joyable ancl worthwhile, with the idea of preparing the student for the future. Mrs. Githens, Girls' Counselor, in the one year she has been here, has come to be known by the students as an able and understanding counselor. Her other duties include teaching English and girls' personality devel- opment classes. Mr. Flatter carries a lot of responsibility being Assist- ant Principal and Boys' Counselor. He also teaches a bovs' personality development class, issues absentee and tardy blanks. But he is never too busy to see students. , The past two years Mr. Somers has been Fairmont's principal. He has shown a likeable interest in the stu- dents, by giving support and willing friendliness. Mr. Somers has a lot to do during the school year, as he is in charge of the student council, directs school activities, and gives quite a bit of his attention to the members of the faculty as the head of the teachers' meetings. Our daily activities are given to us over the public address system by Mr. Somers each morn- ing. These are some of his duties, but there are many more. Mr. Somers sets a good example for the student body, as well as giving guidance. He stands for Fairmont's ideals and upholds our scholastic standards. Besides Mr. Somers' Fairmont activities, he also finds time for fishing as an enjoyment. The Dayton and Xenia Motor Bus Co.
