' i £l£ tt.|r ' If - V i pn ' % 1 -• •mt ■■HUNT-HAUGHT SCIENCE HALL Ground was broken last fall and the new science build- ing was officially named Hunt-Haught Science Hall. The building was named in honor of two retired members of the Division of Science, Dr. George R. Hunt and Cleo D. Haught. The four-story, $3 million structure is built in a honey- comb fashion to provide a maximum of exterior light and to utilize all available space. The new building houses the Division of Science, De- partment of Nursing and Department of Psychology. Top right: A welcoming speech is given by President Eston K. The tradition began with the freshmen men wearing maroon neckties and caps and the freshmen women wearing maroon armbands and caps. The 1971 Student Body officers and the office of the Dean of Men, along with 52 freshmen counselors, who were selected by the Student Personnel office, were in charg e of all freshmen orienta- tion activities. Most of the fraternities and sororities were represented either by floats or members riding in cars. Saturday afternoon, the Fight- ing Falcons played Salem College in the annual Homecoming game. At half-time, the Homecoming court was escorted to the field and each girl was presented with a bouquet of flowers and a kiss from President Feaster. The Elements of Sound pro- vided the dance music for the Homecoming dance and a concert was performed by The Presi- dents from Washington D.C. At intermission Diane Taylor, Soph- omore class representative, was crowned the 1971 Homecoming Queen.
