H ln fulfillment of the prediction, Dean Shurtleff returned some years later as member of the faculty and as an adviser to the maturing annual. Times have changed and with the passing years Student Shurtleff has in turn become graduate, teacher, Dean of the'College, andafter twenty-two years at the college was retired. They gave the last full measure of their devotion that liberty might reign supreme, that we might enjoy the benefits of the democracy of our America. lt is in memory of them that we publish this issue of the 1948 lVloUND. These boys shall not return to our campus, but as long as this school serves freedom of education, their names and the price they paid will be remembered and honored, and we, and others to come, Will beproud that they are part of Fairmont State College, Pao S en .- 6 612 -' ' P' ' W A r r fr ' :- 'r f ' -. .- . Q25 Remembering another tradition at- Fairmont State College, we review the Dad's Day activities sponsored each year by the sophomore class. Honor guests for the day Were the dads of all the students. Among the very interesting events of the day were the parade through town, the football game, and the gala dance staged that night in Colebank gymnasium. The Tri Sigma float Was judged the best float and honorable mention was given to the Gammas and the Sigma Taus for their floats.
