B nfire Rally On the brisle night of November l0th, a staunch bunch of Seniors stumbled about at the north end of the parking lot in vigilance of the bonfire. They stayed the night till dawn feeling not the brisk chill ofa November night, only a happy aurora and mellow fumes that encircled the towering mass and the guardian vigilantes in bottles and cans. The twenty foot struct- ure survinfed the night from possible Armijo raiders but few of the vigilantes were left standing. The following day announcement floated down from the administration proclaiming that the bonfire would be lit at -1 .' 00 instead of 6:00 clue to the threatening weather. At 4:00 under crystal clear blue sleies, a congregation of people assembled to watch the tower burn. Selected students touched torches to the structure and it burst with crimson flames. Black smolee rose like an ominous signal, while flame engulfed a human form in effigy. Cheerleaders cheered and chanters chanted until the flaming structure fell like a moment into a pile ofglowing dust. 3 I I . fx X N - :Ji .
