PAGE THI RTY-FOUR OF 1956 SENIOR CLASS HISTORY As we look back into the past, we, the Senior Class, recall many memories, On September 7, 1944, a group of eager children hurried down the upper hall to Miss Albright's room where she greeted us with a warm and loving smile. Soon the reading class was divided into the Red and Blue Birds. ln the second grade Miss Bierman welcomed us and we received knowledge for another step toward greater success in the third grade. Here Mrs. Mildred Miller welcomed us with a loving heart. In fourth grade Mrs. Eberhardt taught us things about science which we all were thrilled to know. From fourth grade we were promoted to fifth grade where Mrs. Ruth Miller put up with a group of rough characters and finally passed us to sixth grade where we were Sunbeanis in a musical play under the direction of Mr. Smith. Here Miss Schwab hardened us up even more for the work in junior high. ln seventh grade Mr. Smith willingly helped us get situated in study hall because our class had too many members in it to remain in the regular seventh grade home room. From here we continued to eighth grade where Mr. Cole allowed us to sell Christmas cards in order to begin our class treasury, and also helped us prepare for high school. Boy! was our Freshman year ever mixed up! Mr. Iittleson introduced us into high school, But before long a new face appeared in front of us. This new face belonged to a Mr. Stevens, who did not remain very long with us. Then one morning we walked into our class room and saw a very distinguishedr looking man by the name of Mr. DeVincent. We all enjoyed him very much and decided to let him remain with us. We elected our first class officers as follows: President-Mollie Malone: Vice President-Mary Anne Elliott: Treas- urer-Carol Rice: Secretary-james Vogel. Now that we had one year of high school, we were promoted to the Sopho- more room where Mr. WVarner greeted us all with his prize jokes. Our class officers were elected: President-james Vogel: Vice President-Dixie Carlisle: Treasurer-Larry Kannal: Secretary-Kathleen Snyder. Mrs. Farrell welcomed us all with a big smile to the junior room. Here we were always busy with some kind of activities and projects. We were all very happy to become juniors because this was the year we were to receive our class rings. When they arrived in December, we had a class ring presentation party after a basketball game. This is one party we shall never forget. We also presented our junior Play, The Monkey's Uncle, on November ll. This was one of the highlights of the year, and here we experienced happy times as well as a few frustrating moments such as the time the coffee table broke unexpectedly during the second act of the matinee. On April 29 we held the junior-Senior Prom in the gymnasium. The theme was The Gay Ninetiesf' Our officers were as follows: President-Dixie Carlisle: Vice President-Joe Pahanish: Secretary-Donna Garrod: Treasurer-Sonnie Brinker. We started out with a bang in our Senior year. Mr. Murphy welcomed our class of 32 into the room. Richard Davis was elected President, with Dixie Car- lilse as Vice President: Kathleen Snyder as our Secretary and Sonnie Brinker as Treasurer, We all know that without the guidance of our faithful home room teacher we would not have been able to publish our Black and White and the school annual. Now we Seniors are looking forward to the Senior trip which we worked so hard to achieve. When we leave Fairfield we will carry with us memories of our days here. We will remember our teachers and parents who, through all of their efforts, made possible the education we shared together our twelve years at Fairfield. LaVerne McLaughlin wills her ability to play basketball to anyone else who likes it. tContinued on page fortyj PAGE THI RTY SIX OF 1956 CLASS PROPHECY As I was cruisinng down the highway about 170 miles an hour in a 130-mile an hour zone to my dancing school in New York, I heard a siren blowing. I looked in the rear view mirror and saw a state highway patrol car behind me. lt pulled up beside me and the patrolman told me to pull over. Much to my surprise it was Larry Porter! He took me to the nearest city hall. I sat down to wait for him while he talked to the chief. While I sat there I picked up a magazine for young homemakers which was edited by Dixie Carlisle and Mollie Malone. As I was looking through the mag- azine 1 came across a picture of Eugene Culler, the bachelor most pursued by the unmarried ladies of the world. Wlhen Larry came back he said that I was to go without a fine. As 1 was leaving, we started talking about some of our class members. Larry said that -lim Gaston owned one of the world's largest and best race tracks in the world. He is also one of the best drivers at the track. He is in competition with 'loyce Little and her husband, who own the largest drag strip in the world. janet Seamans is married and owns a big skating rinkewhere Suzanne Heint- zelman is teaching her children to skate. Sonnie Brinker is treasurer and Myrna Morrow is secretary at the Youngstown Sheet Sc Tube Company. NVe have heard that there are three of our classmates who own big ranches in the West. Monnie Wellman and her husband own a big horse ranch in Colorado. Herman Miller is feeding one thousand steers on his ranch and also has zu couple Jaguars in his garage. Orville Burbick owns just a plain old farm of 10,120 acres. LaVerne Mc- Laughlin is now appearing at Kent State University where Mary Anne Elliott is the Dean of VVomen. There are three famous fliers from our class. One is Tom Lydon, who has made several trips to the moon in his newly-invented space ship. Bill Wright is now one of the hottest jet aces in the world and Joe Pahanish is his co-pilot. Lois Allmon is earning more than 510,000 a week because she now owns the biggest baton twirling school in America. The lessons are cheap, 5550.00 a lesson. Kathleen Snyder is doing fine as a grand concert pianist, playing at Car- negie Hall. Donna Garrod has a school for kindergarten children where Beverly Bable is teaching them to sing. Richard Davis is now at the Westinghouse Chemical Laboratory where Joyce Bender is working for an inventor who wants to invent a washer and dryer that also irons the clothes. Maxine Rupert is getting a lot of publicity as the President's private nurse. Nancy Workman and Walter Burt are also working for the government. Wal- ter is the Admiral of the United States Navy and Nancy is working in the United Nations Building. Joan Wassink has been secretary for Attorney John Hutson lor the past 20 years. Larry Kannal has a string of Kannal Coal companies all over the United States. Your ash carrying troubles are over when you buy this coal, because it does not burn-it just throws off heat, Lorena Flannery is married and she and her daughter are fashion models for Charm Magazine. I decided I had better be leaving since I was already two and a half hours late for my school, As I was leaving, Larry told me not to drive so fast from now on, but he was glad I was speeding THIS time because we got to discuss what our classmates of 1956 were doing. -Adelaide Augustine.
