The Staff of the 1957 CHAIN AND ANCHorRS wishes the very best of iuck to the underclassmen who will be preparing for the turn in the road, to the seniors who will be taking that turn in different directions, and to the faculty and administration who have prepared and guided us along this path. Given under our hand and seal this eighth day of June, 1957. 50 HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR CLASS PROPHECY The time is June 9, 1967, at the opening of Davis Hubbard’s inter- nationally known Surf Board Institute. ‘he guest list includes the Fairfax Hall Senior Class of 1957. Our cameras now see Miss Mary Miles, first woman President of the Bell Telephone Company, smiling triumphantly and looking down at her left hand. ‘Teeing off at the golf course is Miss Sally Ann Guthrie, recently elected barefoot pin-up of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. Coming up the drive we have Joanne Sommerdahl sporting her latest mink and driving her Solid Gold Cadillac. One of the main attractions this evening will be Miss Rose Mary Wake- field doing her “Saudi Arabian Dance.” Mr. and Mrs. Bert Rosenbush are not present at the moment as they are checking to see if the furniture here was purchased in Demopolis, Alabama. ‘There seems to be a big commotion in the lobby between the former Miss Nicki Nixon and Miss Shirley Carpenter. Miss Carpenter believes the school would have been better if it had been in Texas. It seems that Miss Kay Bengel has finally forsaken Spain for the Alps. Another performer has arrrived—Miss Carolyn Hawthorne, who, the critics say, is the best opera singer of the century. Many people are gathering around Miss Bunny Hollis, in her famous red boots with fur tops, who is singing “‘He’ll Never Get Away.” Miss Vanida Vacharasiritham and Miss Benja Vudhiporn are practic- ing in the auditorium on the “Courtship in Khon.”’ Miss Sue Price could not be present at the opening as she is betting on her favorite jockey at the Kentucky Derby. Misses Katherine Ledford and Lynn Ramsey have come in true I exas style wearing levis and ten-gallon hats, and selling visas to get into Texas. Miss Madeline Berger and Miss Cleo Herrera are now teaching the art of Spanish dancing and are starring in a Broadway production. The guests are in for a big treat tonight as the former Miss Mary Lou Clark will be directing the chefs in the making of her famous spaghetti and meat sauce. We have two visitors who persist in singing about peanuts from the famous city of Suffolk. Could they be Miss Jane Kauffman and Miss Lyn- nette Holmes! Miss Brenda Neubauer, now from the South, and Miss Malissa Ficklin, now from the North, are laughing over how their accents have changed. It seems that Bill Loth is still the topic of discussion for one trio present here today, Miss Suzanne Fleenor, Miss Sharon Herndon, and Miss Anne Williams. Miss Suzanne Huxford is frantically waving a letter postmarked Dallas and yelling, “Halton has finally struck oil.”’ The florist has arrived with Miss Vilma Giammaria’s daily dozen Ameri- can Beaut y Roses. Entering is Miss Vicki Donavan with that familiar ring missing from her finger since she just returned from the Sigma Chi House. Miss Ann Nuckols has remodeled her 30-room mansion into a hill-billy recreation room for teenagers. The former Misses Kathy Dick, Bet Johnson, Julie Farrar, and Diane Petway are standing in a corner discussing their different menus and family problems. Miss Olivia Carr has just entered the lobby. As usual she is in riding clothes as she is showing her fine horses on all circuits this year. The well-known author, Miss Rita Lehtonen, and her manager and agent, Miss Olga Downing, have just arrived. Miss Nancy Wooldridge, the bulldog breeder, is trying to sell a dog to Miss Kathy Wojnicki, who is in need of one to save her from the wolves. Miss Gay Crutchfield in her latest Dior creation is followed by the photographers. Miss Dorothy Simons, the foremost woman scientist, is entering three horses in the races in California. Miss Sharon Sisson is telling about the glorious time she had at Barbara Gengler’s wedding. We are sorry that Barbara could not be here but she is still enjoying her honeymoon. Miss Sisson plans her wedding next month. Miss Barbara Mogilowitz is complaining that she left her sunglasses in Maryland. Miss Sammie Nunnally is having a baby-grand piano moved into each room of her New Mexico home. Miss Jackie Toovy has become an overnight success with her favorite idol, Mel Ferrer, in “Watch Out For Hepburn.” Miss Sue Simpson is humming “My Boy Jimmy,” while holding Jeanie Gatliff’s “mountain dew”? made from an extract of coal. Next we have our famous ‘“Hoot-Man-Girl”, Connie Eldridge, who swears she'll never take a puff of a poisonous weed. Miss Barbara Schoeppl has just arrived with Yul. By the way, she is wearing her head shaved these days. After graduating from Nursing School, Miss Mary Beth Madison cannot decide whether to have a career or get married. 52 JUNIOR CLASS OFFICERS SHERIDAN, KEISTER, Swope, Miss DENT, HEANER JUNIOR CLASS OFFICERS ENN ERE LAINE R yee nae enti ee ee ee. ye «St ne eh leh President eA ROMERIDAN E etree a ee LY a ose Oe ah ge Secretary CAROLYN KEISTER So gate eR re Bat ee SE Aes 9 RRS gM) airy eke ARR ae ene eae eee Treasurer WITSSaIVIARIU VN GIO EN Tee cee eek oe ee eee eer es Sponsor, | st Semester VIISSar ETA LL Neer = Oe ccd Mtee airs a se coe ae Sponsor, 2nd Semester THE JUNIORS ANDREA BACON Haverford, Pennsylvania KATURAH BACON St. Albans, West Virginia JENNY LIND BAILEY Helena, Alabama Jo ANN BARRON Baltimore, Maryland JANICE BEATY Parsons, Kansas JUDITH BELT Abgaiq, Saudi Arabia BRENDA BLACK Pacoima, California JANICE BLOoom Miami Beach, Florida CLASS OF 1958 ALICE BRIZDLE Buffalo, New York LyNDA SUE BRYAN Ashland, Kentucky PATRICIA CARR Kew Gardens, New York SHELLY CHARLES Atlanta, Georgia DoROTHEA CLARK Bridgeport, Connecticut MarciA COHEN Charleston, West Virginia JULIA G.
