Truls Tollefson our fa1thfulJan1tor has been school custodxan for ixfteen years He IS as much a part of our educatlonal system as are the books and the desks for he has been a school fixture datzng back to 1933 wxth only a few mtermzttent years off duty Last year Miss Ohnstad lnaugurated a new system for choosmg the ushers to attend the Seniors at commencement exercises The plan is to select ushers from the Jumor class on the basis of scholastic averages for the current year of high school work The 1949 ushers were JoAnne Sarnson and Grace Monson The 1950 ushers w111 be an nounced ln May Edwma Thrugstad Sophomore IS hot lunch chairman for the year succeedmg Helen Overbye who served the prevlous school term Her work xnvolves meal planning and record keepmg Our lunchroom serves as many as eighty elght persons as day and our monthly records often shows a total of 1200 meals Faczlztxes have greatly Improved by the purchase oi a steel cabinet and an electric hot plate The local Parent Teachers Association which had been dormant for a nu.mber of years was reorganized last fall and has had an active and successful season Officers elected were Mrs Harry Bergquist, presidentg Mr L Overbye, vice president Helny Ohnstad secretary, and Mrs I J Iverson treasurer A prograxn of school beautification was chosen as the special project of the year and wnth Glenn Lxen as project chairman the members of the organizatxon met to paint and repaxr the school buzldmg Helen Overbye, a Jumor, was chosen to represent the American Legxon Auxaliary at the 1950 Girls State held at Grand Forks Lorrame Hedlund was named alternate Candxdates are chosen on the basis of scholarship leadershrp and cxtizenshzp Last year the appointment was gxven to JoAnne Samson ZZ MR TOLLEFSON - '. ,'v ., 'lu ' EDWINA
