'11- if OUR 'SKIPPER' ' Commander B. P. Ross was given command of the Eversole with many years of destroyer experience behind him. He served aboard the USS Arizona for three years after graduating from Annapolis in l935. His destroyer experience started with an assign- ment to the USS Balch. S ln l942 he joined the USS Radford in time for her commissioning and one year later he became her executive officer. For his part in the out- standing record of the Radford during the war, Commander Ross was awarded the Legion of Merit. Commander Ross was given his first command on the USS McNair during the latter part of the Okinawa campaign. When she joined the in- active fleet in San Diego, Commander Ross was sent to Seattle to become COMMANDER B. P. ROSS Q n , . The Skipper of the Eversole. 'THE EXEC' Lt. Commander W. F. Lorenz graduated from the Naval Academy in l94l and reported aboard the USS Honolulu for duty after graduation. He was in charge of the anti-aircraft battery. ln l943 he was sent to flight school, and upon completion of his training, he joined forces with the naval air corps in the Pacific. ln Junerof 'I946 he trans- ferred from the air corps and received his first assignment as executive officer aboard the Eversole fm...
