Originated by the Association for the Study of Afro-American Life and History, Inc., Black History Month evolved from Negro History Week which began in 1926. Carter G. Its purposes are to stimulate blacks’ appreciation of their African history, increase understanding of all Ameri- cans about their own heritage, and in- form Afro-Americans of contributions of black inventors and scientists to the founding, development, and continu- ance of American life. The team turned in their first winning sea- son in 8 years with 7 wins, 2 losses, and | tie, ending the season ranked 23rd out of the 152 teams involved in state 3A com- petition. The Bulldogs lost only one game in zone, finishing in second place behind Brownwood, who went on to win the dis- trict crown. Leading and guiding the Bulldogs to their first victorious season in 8 yrs. were Head Coach Jay Law and his coaching staff. These coaches worked many long and hard hours to make the season a win- ner. Scouting other teams, watching game films, and sizing up opponents were just a few of the things the coaches did in order to make the season successful. | Quarterback Kurt Boson consults Coach Law about upcoming play against Boswell. 2 Phil Hallmark’s key block springs Danny Tisdale for extra yardage against Granbury 3 Bulldogs explode through banner at Bos- well. 4 Coach Jay Law shows disgust over a bad call. 5 Osborne tacks on extra point against Desoto. 6 Bulldogs swarm to assist safety Rudy Jackson against Brownwood. 7 Mark Hernandez leads the traditional “Bulldog Shuffle” after the defeat of Cleburne. ies 10: 7” ae: - BO se WE . . $ me Pee pt: es ae ee 4's y F ail Ley 5 ta PU a. i SCORES Desoto Boswell Burleson Grapevine Mansfield 0 Crowley 28 Brownwood 6 Stephenville 14 Granbury 36 Cleburne 44, TOTAL 210 Zone Games Bulldogs Display Cavaleade of Excellence The Bulldogs were highly skilled on both offense and defense, Eight players received honorable men- tion and three received all-district honors. This years team had an ex- plosive offense which was charac- terized by their excellent running attack lead by Danny Tisdale who gained 1,401 yards of the 2,988 to- tal yards which the offense gained rushing. Tisdale is, without a doubt, the best player ever to play football for Everman, he is almost assured o f getting a football schol- arship. He has already had many offers to play for such teams as Ne- braska, and Oklahoma. The Ever- man passing attack, though seldom used, still gained a respectable 507 yards. The Bulldogs outscored their opponents 210-105. The de- fense was also extremely good. They allowed only 105 points which is one of the lowest point to- tals given up in the zone. In sum- marizing this season, it was one of the best the Bulldogs have ever had, and it looks as if Coach Law will be well set for next season be- cause of many returning starters. 1. He had the ability to sincerely care for the people around him. He also was a fun person to be around. He had a great love for life, and even at the age of eighteen we can clearly say he was living it to the fullest. For his family and friends we would like to say, let us remember David for the happiness and joy he brought to others. Ever- man High School gained a new addition to the system. Not exactly a castle, but it is a little kingdom to our cafeteria personnel. It has given a whole new atmosphere to our eating fa- cility; from dulldrums to delight. A typical day in the life of hungry people. Jim Bob Feller Micheal Walker S. Hayworth, C. Materioli, M. Every day students in the vocational and business classes learn to keep the equality of debits and credits in bookkeeping, type letters in typing and learn how the body functions in HOSA. In ICT they learn machine operation. Students really learn how to survive in the “Occupation World” with the help of their teachers and the aid of all the op- tions open to them. She is an exchange student from Santigo, the capitol of , P aw WChile. M ria has noticed many differences between the kind of , 7 F | -_ , 7 7 7 school system she is accustomed to and the one at Everman. For in- stance, instead of moving from one class to another as we do, the stu- dents remain in one room and the teachers are mobile. Due to the “ differences in seasons, they attend school from March to November. Rugby is the favorite sport as opposed to football. Maria took English as a foreign language, while Spanish was required. Perhaps the bi- H ggest difference was the fact that she attended an all girl school in . Chile, All in all, Maria seems to be enjoying American life. EHS wel- comes you Maria! Out of sixteen choir students attend- ing U.I.L. solo contest at UTA, seven came back with division one ratings. Jenny Kern received a one in grade III and Leslie Brown earned a one in grade II.
