SKI FEVER STRIKES EVERGREEN The bus is coming, grab a seat! - and oft they go to the highest snow peaks during the ski season. What's so fascinating about gliding down a hill on two boards? Mainly, the sheer thrill of speeding down over the clean snow, wind tearing at your face and coming to a halt in a spray of snow at the bottom. The high solitude of the winter mountains, the wis-s-s-s of steel edges Meet Jay and Jim Lucasl ,mi and hickory as you shoot past the blur of trees is a real thrill. All this is provided by Jim and Joy Lucas, owners and instructors, of the EVERGREEN SKI SCHOOL, introduced to our students this year. G. A. A. DRAWS IVIANY Through the Letter Girls' Club, many participants have found an outlet for their athletic interests. They learned that sports were not entirely for males only. Sports turnouts were held on a voluntary basis after school each Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Activities included trampoline, badminton, volleyball, tumbling, basketball, swimming, bowling, softball, golf, hiking, and skiing. Points were given for attendance and each girl had an opportunity to work tor a letter. lt was the aim of Letter Girls' to promote good sports- manship, create interest in athletics and to offer a va- riety ot sports to those interested. SPORT ENTHUSIASTS Activity-days held at many Puget Sound League schools drew many Wolverine players. Evergreen was host to the schools in February when everyone partic- ipated in the basketball sports day. The officers of Letter Girls' are President - Kay Rock- well, Vice-President - Gerry Fenton, Secretary - Carol Sweet, and Treasurer - Carol Rockwell.
