HOOPSTERS IN FAST COMPANY Last year's Lakeside league champions entered the Puget Sound league for the first time this season. The season was initiated much as the previous season's games in that the first two games went into overtime. Last year seven of the Wolverine encounters were overtime games. The Green and White found themselves in much faster company in the Puget Sound league. The Puget Sound league placed three teams in the state basketball tournaments. The most exciting ball games of the season were the encounters with O'Dea, Auburn, Sumner, Enumclaw, and Puyallup. The season finale wrapped up the careers of the following sen- iors: George Hooten, Mike Knapp, John Leslie, Paul McTaggart, Jerry Osman, Stan Redmond, Dick Sample and Captain George Pittenger. Senior managers on the squad were: Phil Trainer and Dennis Holm. Juniors back for another season are: Bill Bessy, John Gambill, John LeCompte, Jim O'Connell, and Larry Slinker. John Gambill led the team in scoring with 337 points, This placed him third in the Puget Sound league scoring race. George Hooten was voted the most improved player on the team. Paul McTaggart was voted by his teammates the Inspirational award winner. The Evergreen basketball team was proud to have played an important part in the winning of the Sportsmanship trophy. 1.9, x O f
