PREFECTS To our Senior Prefecls, who have given us friendship and guidance, kepl our allendance, senl poslals home, collecled lale slips, read lhe calendar, handed oul library slips and innumerable olher nolices, issued reporl cards, kepl our permanenl records, figured oul averages, and walched our unils for grad- ualion-we give our lhanks, apologies, and affeclion. An official leacher's work is hard. Miss Edgerly, Prefecl of Class I07-8, is a-member of a dislinguished family who slill live in lheir falher's house in Tremonl. We can hardly imagine Evander wilhoul her public spiril, warm friendliness, wonderful sense of humor, and vibranl personalily. She likes parlies, cars, oil painls, and lhe ballel: she enioys housekeeping, and she loves lo leach. A good sludenl, she believes, is one wilh good manners as well as diligence in his sub- iecl. She spends her summers on a wooded eslale near Weslporl, Conneclicul. As a hobby, she designs wallpaper and unholslery fabrics. She has lraveled widely. Mrs. Benson of Class I49-8 is a popular leacher of heallh educalion who loves her official classes because she loves guidance work. She is devoled lo her beaulilul Jersey home and lwo cule dogs. She drives lo and from school each day regardless of lhe I3 wealher. Golf and lennis are her oulside inleresls. Her hobby is magic, in which we hear she is quile experl. Miss Lucey, whose place Mrs. Benson is laking, decided lo relire wilhoul wailing lo see us graduale. We loved her so much, for she look such a personal inleresl in each one of us. She even inviled her class lo lunch in her beauliful home in Yonkers, where she and her sisler keep house logelher and do all of lhe gardening. She plans lo drive across lhe counlry again, she mighl go abroad, bul she has promised lo allend our Commencemenl. Mrs. Bohm, of lhe Modern Language De- parlmenl, Prefecl of Class I5l-8, was born in Ilaly bul has lived in New York for mosl of her life. She allended Columbia Universily and Middlebury College, and has pracliced foreign languages during her many inleresling monlhs abroad. She is facully adviser of Evander's flourishing llalian Club. Mrs. Bohm plays lhe piano as a hobby. She enioys opera, especially llalian opera. She has a new home in Jersey where she plans lo carry oul an ambilious program of gardening. As her official class can lell you, Mrs. Bohm believes slrongly in punclualilyl Mr. Cunningham of Class 208-8c was born in Armonk, New York, bul he lived in lhe Bronx in winler and allended Evander Childs High School, where he slarred on lhe swim- ming leam. He has recenfly been made chairman of fhe Mechanic Arfs De- parfmenf. ln privafe life, Mr. Cunningham's hobby is raising grapes af his home in Armonk where he lives wifh his wife and fwo children. During several summer vacafions he has af- fended Cornell Agriculfural School fo sfudy grape raising scienfifically. Mrs. Fisher, Prefecl' of Class 226-8c, is or- iginally from Rochesfer, where she affended fhe Universify of Rochesfer, buf she has lived in many parfs of fhe world. Mosf of her years abroad she spenf in Germany, Greece and Turkey. ln Turkey she was in charge of relief work fhrough an American mission. She gradu- afed from Columbia wifh a major in home economics. She enjoys sewing, cooking, house- keeping and gardening, and loves 'leaching her girls fhe useful arfs of home managemenf. When asked whaf philosophy of life she would like +o have her class remember, she replied, "They should learn fhal' nofhing worfh having is free. You have fo work for worfh-while fhings and pay for fhem. Mrs. Frees of Class 240-8 is one of Evander's highly esfeemed arl' feachers, and in privafe life a successful wife, homekeeper, and mofher. She fakes fhe greafesf pleasure in her fhree children. She likes fo drive fhe family aufo, and someday she hopes fo be able fo fravel. She likes fo painf and sing, and when she has fime, she likes fo go fo fhe fheafer and fo ballef. Her favorife TV shows are Groucho Marx and Bishop Sheen. She looks forward fo a fime when she will own her own home which she will plan and deco- rafe in her own way. She enioys enferfaining her friends. We fhink she musf be a mosf charming hosfess. She has been feaching ever since she graduafed from Hunfer some fiffeen years ago. Miss Shaw, in privafe life Mrs. Allan Abboff. describes herself as fhe hard-boiled prefecf of Class 250-8c. She loves feaching, indeed, she decided fo become a feacher fhe day she enfered elemenfary school in her Florida home fown, and she has never wanfed fo be anyfhing else. She was graduafed from Mon- ficello Seminary lnow Junior Collegel in ll- linois, from which her grandmofher had grad- uafed some sixfy years before. She affended Barnard, buf fook her degree from Teachers College where she received a full scholarship.
