Superintendent of Schools
The Board of Education, representing the citizens, is ever-
watchful to the needs of the school. Through its endeavors and
support, the school has obtained anew stadium and made improve-
ments on the appearance of the high school with fresh paint, green
blackboards and Venetian Blinds. We would like for them to know
that their work is fully appreciated. A

of course looking forward to graduation next May.

We, the proud seniors of 1951, will always
remember the wonderful times we have had
these four years.
Each day was crowded with classes and other
activities, but there was always time for fun and
mischief.
The senior class, with the help of our spon-
sors QMr. Anderson, Miss Morrison, and Mrs.
Masonj and officers, has provided leadership
for all school activities.
As we leave the halls of 'ole E. H. S. , some
of us to further our education, others to go
directly into careers, we will always be proud
that ,we were graduates of Eureka High School.

In the fall of 1950, Freshmenf .agged as Hgreenies, "

acquainted with the school and their new classmates.
From the Freshman Class these officers were
elected: Betty Ramsey, Presidentg Larry Gamblain,
Vice President, Christel Day, Secretary, Ann Duncan,
Treasurerg and Betty Ball, Program Chairman.
The Freshmen had active parts in the student
council, G.R. , Pep Club, Hi-Y, football, and basket-

be remembered by all.
The year 1954 looms ahead as not only a time of
graduation, but a time when we will leave all our
Wonderful E. H. S. memories, to take anew and excit-

Our appreciation and gratitude go to our sponsors,

KING DON
The next week was observed as
tag week in E.H.S. The Business
Managers sold subscriptions to the
1951 Tornado in the halls before
school in the mornings and at noons.
The purchase of an annual entitled
the holder of the receipt to one vote
for the queen and king candidates. A
voting booth was maintained to give
privacy in voting. Results were
charted daily. Janice Farmer and
Don Cheatham, both seniors, re-
ceived the honors. The annual staff
then planned a cornation ball for the
late spring to crown the winners and
to distribute the 258 annuals sold.

Merry Christmas! ! !
The Hi-Y club of '50-'51 had a very prosperous year. Under the leader-
ship of Jack Han and Harold Brooks, sponsors, and Stanley Marshall, pres-
ident, many useful things were accomplished.
A basketball team was organized and suits were purchased for the team
out of the Hi-Y treasury. The membership of the club was not the largestin
history, but when they attended church they had a. larger representation than
any other club has ever had. On February 20, the club held afather-son chili
feed and invited all of the male faculty. Three different sport films were shown.
The club was also very active in purchasing Christmas decorations for the
inside and outside of the school building.
All in all the club feels that it has made worthwhile achievements toward
its purpose and its platform.

The mixed chorus was alarge organizationthis year.
A problem which prevailed was a lack of boys to make
the group more successful. However, this group has
enjoyed learning and singing their parts to such ar-
rangernents as, "The Battle Hyrnn of the Republic",
"Jingle Bells", and "Era of Peace". The chorus was
directed by R. D. Wheat.

The Boys' Glee Club has this year become what, for
the first time in recent years, can be called a real glee
club. At least, they have developed to the point where
they cannow handle standard four -part music adequate-
ly. Mr. Wheat is verypleased with the progress the boys
have made this year and looks forward to some good per-
formances in the near future.

In capturing a share of the Tri-Valley League
championship with Cherryvale, Coach Lawrence
Blair-'s Tornadoes added other laurels when they
landed five men on the all-league team. Sears, endg
Jeffrey, tackleg Wassell, guard, Jack Cooper, center,
and Pomranky, back were chosen on the first team.
The Tornadoes operating from a split-T-formation
featured the long runs of Murphy, Hughes, Pornranky,
and Hendrickson in every game.
Assistant Coach Shearburn's "B" team boys,
though heavily outweighed in every game, were not
outfought and several of the boys gave promise of de-
veloping into future Eureka stars.
The honorary captains chosen by the squad were
Jack Cooper, Jack Jeffrey, and Bud Murphy.
