We selected music as the theme
for this Eurekana of l945, because
we realize the important part it is
playing for many during tiese tense
Music has been an ever-present
but unnoticed factor in the livesof
everyone for centuries. From the
cheerful note of the song bird to
the inspiring melodies of the sym-
phonies, music plays its part in
life. From Chopin's symphonic works
to Benny Goodman's swing arrange-
ments, music holds its uplifting
effects. The lil ting sonrsno,the
A'Cappella Choir, the marching band
the violinist, the hot itrumpeter,
and the rich tones of the huge pipe
organ all create a certain feeling
within their listeners. Every kind
of music has an emotional effect on
the peosle who hear it.
Our servicemen overseas tell of
hearmg music from this country over
the radio during a few hnrs of rest
a wonderful sound to them and a
reminder of home. They also men-
tion how they enjoy hearing and
seeing radio and screen singers and
orchestras in the shows brought to
them from this country.
So to music, the accelator of
human emotions, the keynote of the
finer things of life, the cheerii
messenger to a saddened heart,we
dedicate this Eurekena of 1945.
