TVa be t£e cutcC 7M t£e Peofale Ethel Bolling--Business education, journalism; Sponsor, WHISPERING PINE, MOUNTAINEER, Quill and Scroll Honor Society. An outstanding paper was published this year by the MOUNTAINEER staff under the leadership of Glenda Prosser, Editor; and Donna Lee Sneddon and Barbara Ebert, assistant editors. Earlier in the year, members of the staff attended a newspaper conference in Boulder and brought home many ideas for the paper. The staff worked diligently to publish two special editions, one at Christmas, and an April Fool edition. The MOUNTAINEER, published bi-weekly, was printed this year for the first time in several years. Other members of the staff were: Jim Work, Myrna Graves, Jim Seybold, Dan Griffith, Darlene Trevarton, Velane Trevarton, and Marge Gorman. Ypsilon Chapter of Quill and Scroll is the International Honorary Society for High School Journalists. The members, Glenda Prosser, president, and Betsy Baker, secretary-treasurer, assisted Mrs. Ethel Bolling, sponsor, to initiate five qualified candidates. Pat Connor, Jane Gundel, Myrna Graves, Barbara Ebert, and Janice Taylor, were initiated on February 21 of this year. Parents and friends of the initiates attended the ceremony. Cookies, dainty open-faced sandwiches, and raspberry punch were served following the formal initiation. The refreshment tables were decorated with lace tablecloths, yellow and turquoise candles, and greenery. Another initiation was held in the spring for those who met the qualifications for membership.
