The Harmonettes sextet, composed of Donna Lee Sneddon, Betsy Baker, Janice Taylor, Beth Volkman, Karen Stopher, and Anita Boothroyd was organized early in the year by Mrs. Duane Reed. The girls started their chain of appearances at the Longmont Stars of Tomorrow contest where they won first place and a chance to perform in the state Stars of Tomorrow contest. Following the contest the girls performed for PTA, the school, Woman's Club, Lion’s Club, the Legion Club, a school talent show, the Modern Music Master's initiation, Pete Smythe’s TV Show, the State Music Festival, Eastern Star, and repeat performances at Rotary and The Community Church of the Rockies.
