Their freshman year was a year full of fun for the whole class. The girls were initiated into Pep Club by their big sisters. The class gave their first party for the high school during the first semester. Junior year began with the planning and producing of the junior play, The Saturday Evening Ghost. With only thirteen members, everyone worked to make a successful Homecoming dance in the fall, and to present the delightful Junior-Senior prom, Arabian Nights, in the spring. Senior year! A goal reached and new goals planned. During the year, the Sadie Hawkins dance and the senior play were given by the seniors to benefit the entire school. Mr. John Stowe and Mr. Anthony Vinnola, sponsors, guided the class throughout the year, assisted by the class officers who were: Steve Campbell, president; Melvin McKague, vice-president; Jane Gundel, secretary; Glenda Prosser, treasurer; and Duane Herman, student council representative. May: Senior trip, baccalaureate, and commencement. Fourteen sorrowful and yet supremely happy graduates said goodbye to the halls of Estes Park High School. Other officers for the school year were president, Betsy Baker; vice president, Pam McCall; and secretary-treasurer. Jack Whitt. Pam McCall and Steve Enyeart were chosen to represent EPHS at the twenty-first annual student council convention held at Fort Collins in October. On January 30, the four executive officers attended a league Student Councilmeeting in LaSalle, and on March 20 the group met at Estes Park to discuss a sportsmanship trophy for the league, exchange assemblies, code of ethics, and socials after games. Among the variety of beneficial acts performed by the senior council was a Christmas party given at the American Legion to the Midwest Childrens' Home. The usual Homecoming festivities and spirits were dampened by the Bobcats' loss to LaSalle on November 2, 1956. During the half-time of the game, each queen candidate was given a big white feather mum with a purple E in the center. Because of bad weather, the usual snake dance and pep rally were called off. However, in spite of all the bad omens, the annual dance was a big success. The traditional celebration provided the juniors with plenty of work, as they decorated the gymnasium with roses, a wishing well, and mystic blue lights to acquire die Moonlight and Roses atmosphere. The Homecoming dance was attended by senior high students, alumni, and their dates. The Music Makers provided the music. Ronnie Miller, King, and Glenda Prosser, Queen, were crowned after coming through the Magic Mirror followed by their attendants Jane Gundel, Janice Taylor. Steve Campbell, and Jim Low. Class attendants were Sonja Sutter and Steve Enyeart, juniors; Jerry Johnson and Jim Beauchamp, sophomores; and Dianne Herzog and Bob Gray, freshmen. The customary progressive dance with the King. Queen, and their attendants followed the crowning. THE ROYALTY COULD YOU DANCE THE MUSIC MAKERS ALL NIGHT? Red Sails in the Sunset was the theme of the 1957 junior-senior prom. The entire junior class extended every effort to make the prom one which will be remembered for years to come. The guest speaker, Jane Sterling, entertained the banquet guests with a story of her many unusual experiences. At the dance the Rhythm Airs of Longmont set a whirling pace for the many dancers. At ten o'clock Steve Enyeart, junior class president, crowned Betsy Baker and Clyde McLennan prom queen and king. Betsy was presented with a bouquet of red and white carnations, and Clyde received a gold tie clasp and cuff links set. Attendants were Myrna Graves, Lynne Seybold, Gary Sahm, and Jim Work.
