Their emphasis was more on personal records rhon ream victories becouse there was a gener- al feeling of a lock of varsity depth The biggest problem was trying to get more people out for the sport, said John Beth For those that joined the team, a typical workout consisted of warm- ups, then sprints and speed work for short distance runners, and o long run for those in long distance. After their workout, runners worked on their personal techniques. Sprint- ers practiced getting out of their storting blocks fast, relay members worised on passing the batons, ond disropice runners practiced poce ond speed techniques.
