They beat Milwaukie by a score of 19 to 65 they whipped Molalla by a score ot 18 to Og beat Canby 26 to l3g and trounced Sandy 33 to 19. ln individual scoring, Montie Nicholson led with 36 points, and Bob Ward fol- lowed closely behind with 24 markers. 'tr ARSITY BASKETBALL The year 1948-1949 saw a fighting Ranger squad, the best in many years it not the best, on top of the Willamette Valley League all oi the way until the last game ol the season against Molalla which ended the Rangers as co-champions. The record tor the year, excluding tournament play, was 16 wins and 4 defeats. The league record was ll wins and 3 defeats. ln the last game ot the season they deteated West Linn, who were considered the best team in the Tua1atin-Yam- hill Valley League. They beat Sandy in the first game by a score ot 51 to 28, then came back the second night to be deteated by Central Catholic lDistrict championship teaml 45 to 23 The last night in the tmal game against Gresham the team again tound the basket and came out on top 56 to 53 to win the third place trophy
