if , , ij., wL,, W 41 4: 6 THE WEST CAMPUS: THE MO E Formerly known as Orchard Elementary School, one of the new additions to Esperanza was the West Campus. The reaction to it was very positive and since there weren't as many distrac- tions. the students seemed more relaxed and attentive in the West Campus classes. The classrooms were larger: there was more learning and storage space. There was an average of 400 stu- dents on the West Campus every period. For the past two or three years, faculty members knew that utilizing Orchard's campus was a possibility, so the Esper- anza staff was prepared to move west. The original plan was to build a two story building on the main campus. but it was less expensive to take over Orchard. The district recently set aside money for an architect to plan and hopefully build an over-pass by the fall of IQS7.
