We waTched as The pile of dirT, lumber, and meTal slowly dis- appeared, while in iTs place a new lunch area and science labs maferialized. AT The beginning of The year, many of us viewed The consfruc- Tion wiTh dread. So many aTher Things in our lives were already changing, being Torn up. The communify around us was ih- creasing rapidly in populaTion. New businesses were cropping up everywhere and The Traffic jam became a familiar sighT. By The Time Sepfember arrived, we were hardly looking forward To changes in faculTy, academic programs, and The physical ap- 256 - cudos pearance of our school. BuT we persevered. And, in The meanTime, we forced ourselves To adjusf. BuT more imporTaTnly, we learned. BaTTIing iT ouT in The crowded hallways, Tripping over exposed pipes, defouring around fences, meefing new Teachers, and per- severing Through changes in our academic program were jusT a few of The challenges faced. lvlany of us sTill bear The scars of These Trials. YeT, when The end of The year came, we found ThaT all The sfruggles and challenges we faced had been worfhwhile. Nof only did we have modern, spark- ling new labs and addifional lunchfime space, buT new rela- Tionships had been formed and our academic skills had been sharpened. As members of The 4985-86 Quefzal sTaff, we faced The ad- difional challenge of aTTempTing To capfure all of These exper- iences in a 256 page book. We could noT have accomplished This goal wiThouT The help of many individuals. We are grafeful To Herff Jones Represenfafive John McKinney and Planf Represenfafive Joann Moff.
