HOTTEST SHOWS AROUND Esperanza students who had spare time often spent it watching some of the hottest shows on television. These programs put a great emphasis on clothing trends, music, and cars which helped them project an exciting image. Many students agreed that Miami Vice was one of the hot- test crime fighting shows on prime time T.V. A majority of the females on campus were infatuated with Don Johnson, as Detective Crock- ett, or Phillip Michael Thomas, as Detective Tubbs. Because these two actors portrayed a sleek im- age, a handful of students could often be seen imitating their look or personality. Night time soaps were also a wide spread trend. Students that were hooked on Dynasty watched to see who survived the massacre at the royal wedding. When the students at Esper- anza were not struggling over homework or slaving at a job, watching television was one of the favorite ways to enjoy their free time. Theme 13
