Khadafy Threatens U.S his participation in training, equipping, organizing, and di- recting terrorist activities, was accused of being partly respon- sible for the death of several Americans who were caught up in terrorist attacks. This pro- voked President Reagan to or- der all U.S. citizens out of Libya, and to send two U.S.N. carriers, along with the Sixth Fleet, to the lvlediteranean Sea. These forces conducted maneuvers off the coast of Libya. Khadafy then proceeded to draw a death line, which, if crossed, would result in military action on both sides. Soviet Forces were also in- volved. ln just one week the So- viet Naval Forces in the Mediter- ranean doubled and continued to build. However, the Soviets denied that they would take action against the U.S. Forces should a conflict erupt between Libya and the U.S. Israel was also hit by Kha- dafy's involvement in terrorist activity. Israel's leader, Prime Minister Shimon Peres, ordered an attack on a Libian based ter- rorist training camp, which in- volved several lsraeli fighter- bombers. ' news - 457
