-- '. it-rl. .ir . ..v' it tits , Studentsiiategorize Teachers Students, responding to a poll on characteristics of teachers, put teachers into .three different cate- gories: the strict teacher, the cool teacher, and the fair teacher. Strict teachers were char? acterized as those who do not accept late assign- ments, do not joke around in the classroom, and who ,don't allow students to go the restroom unless it's a dire emergency. i think that strict teachers can be a real pain sometimes because they always make you do everything the hard way: but l know that later in my life lwH1 appreciatethe extra work and the discipline, commented junior Danielle Houghton. Cool teachers, according to the poll, always joke around in class. These classes become known as kick-back classes, but the casual atmosphere can make learning easier for some students. t'Teachers that joke around in class are my favorite Rocco Ferrario assists his stu- dents during class. because, they make the work more interesting? said student Karla Lewis. Cool teachers often let students get away with excuses like My dog ate it or 'tl thought this test was open-notes . These teachers will always be remembered for some of the crazy things they did or said in class. Q The last teacher type mentioned wasthe fair teacher. Fair 'teachers are a combination between strict and cool. They usually begin the year by being strict and using rules and guidelines, but after awhie they loosen up and often let students get away with some excuses. itliair teachers are teachers who will bend the rules a little bit to help the students as much as possible, commented senior Mark Sey- mour. t i Although not all teachers at Esperanza are' so easily categorized, they do have a style all their own and a unique way of reaching their students. 4410 - faculty
