Journey into Jazz The Eski Jazz Ensemble kicked off the year with an exceptionally young sound. As the year progressed, the ensemble produced what was considered by Band Director Rod Loeffler to be a very good sound. This 1979 ensemble was the largest in recent years. The trombone section was the youngest, but turned out to be quite good, and was also the largest at Eski for many years. In fact, when asked to name one of the best things about the Jazz Ensemble, Mr. Loeffler said, SIX TROMBONES! l. The ensemble played tunes such as Turkey Toes, Along Again, and Everything's Cool. These three were performed at the CMEA Festival at Hayward State, and at Dr. Pritchard's retirement reception in January. 1. Band Director: Rod Loeffler. 2. Nadine Nunes practices the tenor sax 3. Choir Productions Eski's Choir performed in three major productions, the Christmas Concert in December, the Musical in April and the Spring Concert in May. Over 70 students participated in the Choir during the Fall Semester They were accompanied by Lynette Leinfelder and Tammy Hysell, under the direction of Miss Pat Coslet. The Christmas Concert was dedicated to the remembrance of Patricia A. Loureiro. The Spring Concert was titled American Traditions Through Music. 1.
