Carol Morrell revived the Powder Puff tradition, and Mr. Ball and Mr. Fachner volunteered to coach. Mr. Ball coached the Senior-Sophomore SS Ponytails ' while Mr. Fachner coached the Junior- Freshman JF Express. Led by quarterback Laureen Rocha, the JF Express dusted the SS Ponytails, led by quarterback Debbie Pearce, by a score of 20-6. Halftime activities included the crowning of the Powder Puff King, Steve Toy. The King's court included Mark Franceschetti, Neil Hodgson, Lawrence Mendoza, and Brian Greer. Band Beat The band's ultimate goal for the 1978-1979 school year was the purchase of new band uniforms. Money was raised by candle sales. parade, in which it took third place in its division. In addition to performing at all home game halftimes, the band marched in a Modesto Junior College halftimes, and in the U.O.P. homecoming halftime. The band kicked off the year by marching in the homecoming parade. The band's participation in the Surf City Band Review in Santa Cruz was especially exciting because it was the band's first time to march in this parade. The band also marched in the U.O.P. homecoming Mr. Loeffier stated, I am particularly proud of the band this fall. Crowd response at the halftime shows was especially encouraging to the band and myself. It was said that our show at M.J.C. was the best they'd seen in seven years. 24 MARCHING BAND
