Size, Injuries Plague Varsity Small size and many injuries plagued the varsity football team according to Coach Bob Loureiro. Coach Loureiro appraised his team as being less experienced and smaller in height and weight compared to the rest of the Trans- Valley League teams. The coach said that his team therefore was not able to play to its full ability. Although the Cougars fell to the tough Los Banos Tigers, they were able to put points on the board. East Union was also a feared opponent and their victory was a big setback for the Cougar spirit, which rallied to defeat the Hughson Huskies at our homecoming game.
