Fifties Pep Rally Brings Walls Down To promote spirit for the last football game of the season the Seniors organized a Fifties Day. Girls were seen in long skirts, bobby socks, and sweaters. Boys wore rolled-up bluejeans and white socks. The favored hair styles seemed to be pony tails for girls and the wet look for boys. The climax of the day was the Fifties Pep Rally . As the students filled the gym the band played such old favorites as Rock Around the Clock. The cheerleaders led the crowd in cheers honoring the football team while the students prepared skits. In the first skit Shana Burns, Judy Fortenberry, Pam Chandler, and Sherry Smith pantomined the Leader of the Pack. Sherry Smith's dying scene at the end of their skit brought both laughs and applause. A band consisting of limmy Williams, Earl Waller, and Johnny Williams played rock and roll music while a group of Seniors did the Bunny Hop. Then they broke out into a fast song and these Seniors demonstrated some of the favorite dances of the fifties. The walls of the gym shook as people danced and cheered. Cracks actually formed along the Freshmen and Juniors' side of the gym. Some of the students termed this pep rally as the best we've ever had. It certainly achieved its purpose. the leader ot the Pack skit. 20 Student life
