Nine of the graduating thirteen formed the body of determined seventh gradersg determined, that is, not to be ruled by the seniors and determined to some day become seniors themselves. The seventh and eighth grades served as a breaking-in period before acceptance into actual high school life by way of initiation in the fall of the freshman year. After suffering many humiliations fand enjoying themj on this eventful occasion, the class of 1955 began what will some day be referred to as The Good Old Days at Erie High School. Raymond Beierle joined us during this year as a quiet and steady member of our class. ln our sophomore year as retaliation for the indignities imposed upon us as Fresh- men, we made the initiation of the new freshrnen something they will never forget. How- ever, the real high point of our sophomore year was ordering the long-awaited emblem of an Erie High School Student, namely our class rings. We eagerly awaited their ar- rival. Ages and ages passed, and we were ready to enter our junior year when the rings arrived in August of 1953. Our junior year was high-lighted by the presentation of Orchids and Onions in which we surprised ourselves at the talent we possessed. Onions became Orchids in a transformation from skirts and sweaters, jeans and shirts to floating formals accompanied by suits and ties at the Junior Class Prom. In keeping with the setting, the Bali-Hi, the South Pacific was brought to our western town. Tom Parker joined our ranks during this year to go on to that day to which we have looked forward to for twelve long years. At last, the final of these twelve years made its appearance. Fred Christensen and Joyce Brunz entered our class at the first of our last year in school. We were amazed and slightly disbelieving that our goal was nearly in sight. However, we had little time to think of graduation directly as there were many things left undone that must be finished, not only in the way of class work but in the way of making our marks so that we would always be remembered after our graduation. We promoted several sales campaigns in everything from sweaters to magazines, quite successfully, We also presented as our Senior Class play Aaron Slick From Punkin Crick which was every bit as good, if not better, than the movie production. Thoughts of graduation never really left our minds. Robes and announcements for the event were chosen in December. January found us posing for pictures as re- minders to family and friends that we had reached the stage of being young adults who had finished one of the most important tasks of life, finishing twelve years of education. Only four of the group have come all the way from the first grade of the Lincoln Grade School through the twelfth grade of Erie High School. They were Helen Castro, Marilyn Hanson, Jean McAfee, and Stella Metheney. HOWeVeI', We have all been friends united in one cause, one that has been a lot of work, a lot more play, and one that will always be remembered. CLASS WILL We, the class of 1955 being of sound mind and body do hereby leave our last will and testament before departing from the Erie High School. We, the class of '55, will to the Junior Class all of our old unused firecrackers. We, the class of '55, will to the Sophomore Class our quiet ways in the classrooms and halls. We, the class of '55, will to the Freshman class our studious manners. We, the class of '55, will to the Seventh and Eighth Grades our patience. I, Harvey Brown, will my school books to Betty Parks and my crew cut to Mr. Bruning. I, Raymond Beierle, will my smile to Joe Wendzel and my quiet ways to Bob Baker. I, Joyce Brunz, will my red hair to Louise Avila and my height to Nancy Holley. I, Helen Castro, will my pleasing smile to Euphemia Montano and my big brown eyes to Pauline Martinez. I, Fred Christensen, will my ears to Kenneth Hanson and my Nash to Mrs. Carlson so she will have more speed going home. I, Dale Durbin, will my mischievous ways to Carol Renoad and my driving skill to Donna Newman. I, Marilyn Hanson, will my musical ability to Opal Peterson and my job in the office to Dorothy Hanson. I, Jerry Lewis, will my size to George Trembath and my night life to Andrew De Vis- scher. I, Jean McAfee, will my long hair to Florence Ojeda and my artistic ability to Keith McAfee. I, Stella Metheney, will my happy times in Longmont to Beverly Allen and my size to Ruby Ornelas. I, Tom Parker, will the Erie High School to the unlucky students who are left here and the ones who are to come and my locker 215 to David Somsky when he becomes a senior on one condition, that is he is to keep it in a mess at all times. I, Bill Selvia, will my athletic ability to Ronnie Miller and all my girl friends to Ronnie Pedron. I, Bob Webber, will my Ford to Mr, Bruning and my beat up history workbook to Ronnie Pedron. PRUPHECY Let's look to the future ten years and see what the members of the 1955 class are doing. Here we go in a new Mercury rocket ship that was invented by Bob Webber and as the chauffeur we have the inventor himself, Bob Webber. How about taking us to Wash- ington D. C. first, Bob? Yes, I see them too. They are Jean, Marilyn, and Stella who are working for the President as his Girl Fridays. There is Tom who is in charge of all military affairs for Colorado. He is now General Tom Parker. Let's continue on around to the east. Our first stop will be Paris. We have the famous fashion designer Mme. Joyce Brunz. She must have done very well with High School Rags. She has started creating instead of reporting on fashions. Oh well, it is just as well some one achieved fame. Now to the far east. Then our own beloved continent. Do you see that jungle down there? I do believe it is the Indian Jungle. Hey, can you go down any lower? I think I just saw the fearless animal hunter Jerry Lewis. I believe he is after a black panther. Yes, it is Jerry, but we haven't the time or space to drop down and talk to him right now. Maybe we'll make it some other time. Home, Bob. Our first stop will be California where We'll refuel at Los Angeles. Can you hear the roar? That must be the crowd out at the UCLA stadium. Why look. If it isn't Coach Bill Selvia. I thought he was playing professional basketball. Bill is the youngest coach in the United States. Only 24. We would like to stay longer, but we do have to be on our way. Say is that our old classmate Helen Castro? Helen is on her way to film the show These Parents Of Ours. She has had a great deal of experience in the television field. Where are we going now? We'll go down Arizona way by way of the Mojave Desert. Oh, oh, we better land. They're testing rockets today. We'll find the base of operations and land there. Here comes a man now. He sure looks like Dale Durbin. Say, it is Dale. How long have you been down here ? About five years. Don't you know it is dangerous to be flying in a test area? We hadn't heard that it was closed. How soon can we be on our way? Anytime the test is over. It has been nice to see you again. Good-bye. Now where are we headed? To Texas, but we can't stop. l've heard that three of the boys from our class went together and bought three- fourths of the state. They are Fred, Harvey, and Raymond. Iguess they had to buy all that land for their farms in Colorado were quite successful and they wanted to expand their holdings. This brings to a close our journey of 1965.
