Zeiger led Grade VI by beaT- ing The Carolyn I-IegarTy, I-Ieidi Vorchheimer duo. Again, as in mosT oT our sporTs, we Tailed To win our IeTTers. My classmaTes really grew up when I became a press camera. Those were The days. AT The bowling alleys I was chased down a long slippery runway by a big round Thing which Elaine l2iTTer, Phyllis Schlags, DoroThy I-Iarmon and Gloria Klein, our sTrike arTisTs, assured me was noThing more Than a bowling ball. For weeks aTTerward Though my bellows were a wee biT shaky. AImosT Tinished my career down in The swimming pool when I braced myseIT on The edge oT The pool To sTop Carolyn I'IegarTy in mid-air during a dive. As she hiT The waTer There was a Tidal wave in which I nearly drowned. BuT I was more clever when phoTographing Irene Walker and RuTh Schein-I hung Trom The raTTers and only goT sprinkled. As a climax To our years aT Uncle Desi's, seven oT my TeammaTes became members oT The Leaders Club, our-schooI's aThIeTic honor socieTy. On January 3I, I95O, These girls, Carolyn I-IegarTy, Elaine RiTTer, Carol Zeiger, Phyllis, Lorraine STock, Beverly STock. and I-Ielen AvloniTis, my oTher classmaTes and I, will be graduaTed Trom Erasmus I-Iall. AT lasT we have reached maTuriTy, I as a press camera and They as graduaTes. Now we are all headed in an upward paTh, my Triends, some as sTudenTs, oThers in business. and me, well, l'll go To a school Tor cameras. lT's abouT Time I learned whaT To do wiTh myselT, isn'T iT.

Clubs As solemn Taced Freshmen we enTered our oTTicial class every day. In order To geT To our oTTicial class or any oTher class, we sooner or laTer had To pass under an Arch. And when we did we couldn'T escape The eTernal TickeTs. FooTball TickeTs, dance TickeTs, Turkey TroT TickeTs, and coTTon ball TickeTs were always There. Sooner or laTer we were Torced inTo buying some TickeTs or oTher. Then since we couldn'T leT The money we had spenT go To wasTe, we wenT To The acTiviTy and discovered To our greaT surprise ThaT we really enioyed iT. And ThaT was how iT was wiTh clubs. Our Teachers would broadcasT diTTerenT clubs regularly, like radio commercials. Finally we decided To go and see whaT Those clubs really were. Those wiTh a noTion To acT wenT To Try ouT Tor FooTlighTers DramaTic Club or The Radio Workshop. Those ThaT were inTeresTed in ioining aThleTic Teams wenT To sTarT Training. Soon clubs were so crowded iT was hard To geT inTo Them. The joining oT The diTTerenT clubs could be compared To The rising oT a curTain unTil iT reached The Top. As Freshmen The curTain was only slighTly liTTed Trom The ground. This was because Freshmen had laTe hours. Only a Tew Things were opened To Them. The elemenTary maTh club was called A. B. C. The Gay Caballeros was The Spanish Club. For sporTs There was hockey in The morning, SaTurday morning To be exacT, and also Tennis. When The curTain reached iTs halT-way mark, we were Sophomores. There were so many diTTerenT Teams, TooTball and baseball, swimming and soccer, ThaT There iusT had To be a cheering squad. Thus The Babs came inTo exisTence. For maThemaTical geniuses There was The lvlaTh Team. Some oT us ioined The Y or The Maccabees or The Newman Club. Our program was Tull. The curTain rose once again. This Time we were Juniors. PracTically all exTra curricular acTiviTies were open To us. IT you liked To debaTe, RosTra was open To The girls and The SenaTe Tor The boys. IT you were inclined To wriTe iournalisTically, The DuTchman doors were open To you, iT you had a Tlare Tor The shorT sTory or poeTry you mighT Try The Erasmian. Finally, The lasT curTain call Took place. We were seniors, and The curTain had hiT The Top. Senior ArisTa was open To T-lonor sTudenTs. The Year Book CommiTTee Took care oT graduaTion picTures and hisTories Tor The Year Book and The prom commiTTee arranged and rearranged The prom. Then iT was all over and much Too quickly-Those wonderTul clubs where so many new Triends were made and where hobbies and oTher inTeresTs were developed. We will long remember clubs Tor They have leTT us much To remember.
