My classmaTes really grew up when I became a press camera. Those were The days. AT The bowling alleys I was chased down a long slippery runway by a big round Thing which Elaine l2iTTer, Phyllis Schlags, DoroThy I-Iarmon and Gloria Klein, our sTrike arTisTs, assured me was noThing more Than a bowling ball. For weeks aTTerward Though my bellows were a wee biT shaky. AImosT Tinished my career down in The swimming pool when I braced myseIT on The edge oT The pool To sTop Carolyn I'IegarTy in mid-air during a dive. As she hiT The waTer There was a Tidal wave in which I nearly drowned. BuT I was more clever when phoTographing Irene Walker and RuTh Schein-I hung Trom The raTTers and only goT sprinkled. As a climax To our years aT Uncle Desi's, seven oT my TeammaTes became members oT The Leaders Club, our-schooI's aThIeTic honor socieTy. On January 3I, I95O, These girls, Carolyn I-IegarTy, Elaine RiTTer, Carol Zeiger, Phyllis, Lorraine STock, Beverly STock. and I-Ielen AvloniTis, my oTher classmaTes and I, will be graduaTed Trom Erasmus I-Iall. AT lasT we have reached maTuriTy, I as a press camera and They as graduaTes. Qzrls' Sports They call me Snoopy I'm a camera, Class oT January, I95O. I've been ouT To more sporTs during my Tour years aT The Old Grey School Than any oTher Erasmian To daTe. Why I can remember back when I was only a box camera .... Those were The days when we as Treshmen goT up aT The crack oT dawn To play hockey. Ivly TeammaTes, Alice Cardona, I-Ielen AvloniTis, Phyllis Schlags, lvlary Ellen Dyer, and Carol Zeiger, were an enThusiasTic group ThaT spring in '-46. They've remained ardenT hockey players, and won Their E, I-I. in sixTh Term. I didn'T seem To click unTil I was TiTTed Tor a Tlash- couIdn'T see aT ThaT hour in The morn .... In Third Term I had begun To maTure. I became a reTIex camera and had guiTe a Time Trying To caTch Those low serves which Phyllis Schlags execuTed aT Tennis. Whenever l'd geT a shoT oT a TerriTic Torehand drive by RuTh Schein, iT wouIdn'T be in Tocus. I caughT Elaine RiT- Ter caTching behind Sabina ReisTeId's powerTuI baT. Our TorTe aT This sporT lay in The STock Twins, Lorraine and Beverly, Gladys AugarTen, Teresa SisTo, and CaTherine Riche.
