'12,-'.f7f,, f-lasn't our indus- f ' U trioushopefulbeen spending the last three days reading through the Readers Digest of Books in a vain attempt to digest half a library, before being confronted by this loathsome paper? As he sleeps, he emits groans - pitiful groans. Let us, therefore, enter his World of dreams and see the cause of his agony- The flat-topped desk on which his head reclines has suddenly become infested with hundreds of long-nailed fingers, each hideously daubed with the latest shade of Hot Dog Revlon. One after the other they poke themselves into the slumberers eyes and with each one, new memories arise to torment him. First he sees himself, the object of the derision of his classmates as Dr. Alexander makes him the butt of one of his sarcastic remarks concerning the vast, desolate space between his ears. Next, he utters a happy exclamation quickly supplanted by a heartbreaking sigh. Ah, hahl We see it alll Mr. Rohrberg has just held out a hundred dollar bill to him but the uninitiated senior has made a bet fixed by this teacher and the latter now again possesses the bouncing bill. Torment again . . . Cheese sandwiches, ham sandwiches, baked beans, spaghetti . . . Ten cents, fifteen cents, twenty cents . . . Whether it's Garfield's, Loft's, Newman's, or the Lunch Room, but one scene is clear to him-rows of prone forms-innocent freshmen-lying scattered about as they are battered down by the energetic senior in his everlasting quest for the inevitable homework.
