The dismal era ended. We enTered upon The year I AD. oT The new Erasmus Hall sporTs calendar. Our class girls hockey Team Trounced The Brooklyn Collegians and also won The school championship. In The Tinal game, HarrieT Merrill saved The day by scoring The decisive goal. The gridders were deTeaTed only by Boys High who became The myThicaI ciTy champions. The Team deTeaTed Madison and Tied Manual. Qur class had seen Manual beaTen buT once in TooTbaII. Three games had ended in Ties: one game was won by The Park Slopers. The mermen again won The Brookiyn Championship buT wenT down To deTeaT aT Columbia Pool. Our Brooklyn crown an- nexaTion marked The TiTTh consecuTive Time, and The ninTh ouT oT Ten Times, ThaT we had won iT. The baskefball Team ended iTs schedule in second place. Lincoln, The Brooklyn winner, spliT a pair oT games wiTh The BuTT and Blue cagers. Ed Ehlers, co-capTain and veTeran campaigner, played his lasT game Tor Erasmus Hall. EooTbaII nexT season will lose Wilson Korona, also a member oT The baseball and swimming Teams. BaskeTbaII will lose Ed Ehlers, veTeran player, who has been eiTher capTain or co-capTain Tor The lasT Three years and who also plays ouTTieId on The BuTT and Blue nine. Bob Holm, a reIaTive oT Eleanor Holm, was one oT The mosT improved players oT lasT year's second place baskeTeers. Also graduaTing is Max ScharT, essen- Tially a Team player, whose presence will be sorely missed on nexT year's guinTeT. Frank MorTon is a second year man who puTs all oT his heighT and TighT inTo his cenTer posiTion. Harvey Goodrich was acclaimed one oT The besT deTensive guards in Brooklyn Two years ago. OTher members graduaTing are Louis Tomiasulo and Joe Shapiro. Dick Cunningham, Erasmus' Top breasT-sTroker, Tinished Third in The P.S.A.I.. swim championship. Ray Frisch is a Tine swimmer. Hal Lesselbaum is one oT The Team's beTTer breasT sTrokers. James RaTTer, ArThur Holleb, George Heller, and William MonTgomery are also leaving Erasmus Hall. The baseball Team will do wiThouT The services oT Bill Egan, one oT The besT piTchers in BuTT and Blue ranks since The days OT CAPTAIN ED. EHLERS LEADS THE MEMBERS OE THE BASKET- BALL TEAM WHO LEAVE THIS TERM. THE BOYS HAVE EN- JOYED MOST SUCCESSFUL SEA- SONS DURING THE PAST SEV- ERAL YEARS.

The Tairer sex had become guiTe experT aT The game oT Tield hockey which They pracTiced each SaTurday aT ProSpecT Park. An all school hockey Team challenged Packer InsTiTuTe and amazed everyone buT Themselves by coming ouT on The long end oT a 2-O decision. I-Ielen I-lines gained The hockey capTaincy oT our grade. The TooTball Team was noT as impressive as ThaT oT The pre- ceding year. The Team was Trounced by Madison and played Two scoreless Ties wiTh Manual. The swimming Team enjoyed anoTher successTul season. They again won The Brooklyn Championship only To go down in The ciTy wide TiTIe race, This Time deTeaTed by Richmond I-Iill. The Erasmus cagemen had a successTul season. They Tailed To win The Brooklyn crown which many experTs had predicTed would be Theirs. We were now sophisTicaTed upper sophomores. We waTched a new Team arise upon The Erasmus sporT horizon, The Tencing squad. The Team baTTTled Through Brooklyn opposiTion and was acclaimed uncrowned champion. The Tennis Team made a good showing in P.S.A.I.. ranks. A new sporTing era dawned aT Erasmus! Previous To This Time Erasmian Teams had won one ciTy championship and had been runner up no less Than Tour Times since our class had enTered The school. The TooTbaIl Team wenT Through one oT The mosT disas- Trous seasons in iTs hisTory. The baskeTeers, hampered by unusually small players, compiled a record OT Two vicTories and eighT deTeaTs. The swimming Team, however, broke The iinx by winning The Brooklyn Championship Tor The TourTh Time in a row and Then wenT on To share The ciTy crown wiTh George WashingTon High School. The girls nexT eIecTed DoroThy Beniamin as Their baseball capTain and Eleanor La Sasso Their baskeTball capTain. Inga Olsen became The TirsT Temale member oT The class To pass her Senior I.iTe Saving TesTs. Eencing was Temporarily banned by The P.S.A.L. board.

Coach Caldwell loses some oT his besT soccer booTers in The graduaTion OT RoberT Bruno, HerberT Derman, Jake VVeIiIc- son, and Eranlq BuTTaIano. Managers Murray LeviTan and Charles Suber also Ieave. The Tennis Team will miss Joe Greenberg and Leonard Grindlinger, co-capTains. QuenTin STodoIa was also on The Tennis Team. The Track Team will be wiThouT CapTain Warren WeiTman, a 220 runner and a main cog oT The BuTT and BIue's 880 relay Team. Coach Larry Kraemer was moved To say oT him, Warren is a good runner and a good TeIIow. High praise Tor anyonel Phil Lombardi and Johnny SmiTh are Two oTher members oT The 880 relay Team. OTher members oT The Team are: LesTer McPherson, ArThur Bohm, RoberT Levine, and Irwin Eine. CapTain Irwin Eine has run his IasT mile Tor The cross-counTry Team. He has received Tive leTTers Tor Traclc and cross-counTry. PeTer Bender, one oT our besT lacrosse players, will be a loss To Coach Davis. HarrieT Merrill will be sorely missed by The girl swimmers and Helen Hines will be IosT To Tennis. Barbara Schwab has craclced ouT her IasT hiT in girls' baseball. Jean Solow has shoT her IasT basIceT, and MargareT Holden has prevenTed The IasT opposing Team Trom shooTing iTs goal. Three all-around aThleTes, Audrey Murphy, DoT Beniamin, and Claire London, will also be graduaTed. The Leaders' Club loses iTs Three oTiicers: Helen Hines, presidenT, HarrieT Merrill, vice-presidenT, and MargareT Holden, sec- reTary. The oTher members oT The Leaders' Club who will graduaTe are: Es+eIIe Zucker, Shirley Lawson, Muriel Maass, Jean Solow, DoT Benjamin, RoberTa KoTcher, BeaTrice OTT, Barbara Schwab, Elsie Larson, MargareT Finn, Claire London and Eleanor La Sasso. The members oT The class oT June '37 who have Taken parT in aThleTics aT Erasmus Hall during The pasT Tour years will long be remembered. The school bids Them a proud Tarewell.
