C Although track was dropped from the Junior High athletic program for 1940, the Tiger kittens had a full season of sports. Beginning with touch football in the fall, the sports calendar was filled with such ac- tivities as ping pong, tennis, and badminton, besides the old stand- by basketball, and the new inno- vation, softball, first introduced this year. The Junior High basketball team had a successful season. even though they dropped the championship to the Puyallup kittens as did their fellow breth- ren in the Senior High. A large turn-out was in evi- dence for softball this spring. The squad, hustling under the guidance of coach Ernie Dzurick. had a good season, winning the lion's share of the games. New interest was shown in tennis this year. Under the lead- ership of Mr. Pease, the new net coach, the Junior High tennis squad gained both experience and good exercise, playing on the local courts. All in all, the Junior High had a complete assortment of athletic contests and games. Ld: l'r'cturfi llorhe, Allrmnn. Barber. Bosik. In fn-nl. DcJung. Runland. 'F JR. HIGH SOIITBALI.
