 Bye Bye Birdie Lays Them In the Aisles. Under the direction of Mr. Rex Bryan and Mr. J. Thompson, Bye Bye Birdie” was a smash hit. Playing to packed houses, the play proved to be a hilarious take off of the fifties. The story of an Elvis type teen idol who destroys a small Ohio town before he enters the Army brought laughs and guffaws to the audience. Bye Bye Birdie” was a highlight of 1975.
