Q . if t 1 Carrying out their daily activities ina dimly lit world, the Operations Specialists of Combat Infor- mation' Center QCICJ gather information on all air, surface and n subsurface contacts' within ENTER- PRISE's radar capabilities. They perform this job in five separate but interrelated modules. Display and Decision QD8zDj is the center of activity in CIC. I-Iere, displays of various informa- tion surround the CIC Evaluator, giving him an up-to-,date picture on all contagts known to the ship. From this information, he makes his decisions and passes recommendations to the bridge. s The Air Intercept module is manned by Air In- tercept Controllers, responsible for in-flight control of ENTERPRISE's aircraft, including air intercept control, strike control, antisubmarine warfare control, airborne early warning control and search, and res- cue control. R I A. . 7 , The mission of the Detection and Tracking module QDSLTJ is to detect, identify and track all air contacts. Information from'D8:T is supplied to Display and Decision, where it is coordinatedwith information received from other modules. p I I I ' The Surface module is responsible for information on all ships in'ENTERPRISE's operating area. In addition to identifying surface contacts, the men in the 'surfaced module determine their courses, speeds and the closest? distance they will come. to ENTER- PR1sE.' . r It P The Electronic .Warfare fEWJ.module can locate and ,identify ships and aircraft by analyzing inter- cepted electronic radiations.
