Catapult tests began. Large sleds, equal in weight to Enter- prise's aircraft, were catapulted off the bow, retrieved from the james River and shot off again, testing and retesting the system. November came and went and then in December signs began to appear, and everyone knew that soon, with no more delays, Enter- prise would return to her intended domain, the sea. Holes were patched and paint carefully applied. The yard shacks began to disappear and the majority of the yard's working 'force with them.
