There comes a time in everyone's life when people must pay
a tribute to some one or some thing that they feel has surpassed
all expectations. We, as the Seniors of 1970, feel that Mr. Sayre
has reached this point. It is hard to actually put into words, but 'no
one man has done more for this school than he. Whether it be ad-
ministrative problems, supervising class work, orbguiding student
council activities he is always there to offer his suggestions and
assistance. One thing that has always reigned supreme during our
four years of high school has been spirit. Much of this spirit is
due to the work of each individual student, but someone has had to
create the feeling of working together as a group or as "one big
happy family". We give the credit for this to Mr. Sayre.
We know that his driving spirit goes even farther than our
school because he is involved in many church and community ac-
tivities. Of course there have been disappointments that have
made him unhappy, but he has been able to fight through these and
remain the great man that we know him as today.
For these reasons and many more too numerous to mention,
we have dedicated the following pages of the 1970 'Cat to him. We
hope that it will serve as a lasting token of our appreciation. Al-
though we, as seniors, will now be going our separate ways, the
memories of Mr. Sayre and what he has taught us will stay with
us always. Up with Mr. Norris E. Sayre!

JOMECOMING 1969
After a busy week of plarming and
decorating, October 24 finally arrived.
The suspense mounted as the half-
time activities approached. Three sen-
ior boys, Robert Figger, Rick Kimbrel,
and Ronnie Herrman, escorted the
three candidates, Debbi Massey, Linda
Herrman, and Rita Wagner, to the front
of the attentive crowd. Debbi Massey
was crowned the 1969 Homecoming
Queen by Bernie Reinert, Student Coun-
cil President, who was assisted by
Brandi Reinert, flower girl, and Gary
Bryant, crown bearer.
The queen and her attendants were
escorted to the float where they reigned
over the Wildcat game, in which Ensign
took a decisive victory over Moscow.
Queen Debbi and her attendants also
reigned over the following Homecoming
Dance.
The candidates were nominated and
elected by the entire student body.

MR. AND MISS
EHS
I am only one,
But I am one. . .
I can not do everything!
But I can do something.
And what I can do,
I ought to do. . .
And what I ought to do,
By the grace of God, I will do!
These three couples have been 'cho-
sen by the students as their ideal rep-
resentatives. Selection is based on per-
sonality and attitude as well as leader-
ship and scholarship capabilities. Debbi
Massey and Lonnie Hartnett were se-
lected as Mr. and Miss E. H. S. Debbi
is involved in cheerleading, Kayettes,
honor society, student council, and is a
member of the annual staff. Lonnie is a
class officer, FFA officer, involved in
sports, student council, and has served
as editor of the school paper. The other
two couples as pictured are: Linda
Herrman and Doug Hinshaw, Karla
Etling and Bernie Reinert.
