And everyboydy did dance with old steps, new steps and gyrations far into the future, as the popular Lynx’s frenzied band laid it on the wavy line, Saturday night at KJT Auditorium. The Academy of Friends (Juniors, to you) presented first an hour of jive, in which The Lynx gave a generous sample of the tunesmithing that makes them popular, which is to say from soft melancholy to whammy and bang, with lights flashing and emotional voices in real charisma. In other words, it was rock around the clock and no foilin’ around. It was later on - after the famous awards program • that the merrymakers threw away their shoes and let down their hair, but, at that, they really got with it in the first stanza, too. 11 was either dance or wear out a chair as the syncopation surged. Junior Pres. Richey Jones was the master-of-ceremonies and his associates were Barry Crow and Harold Fields. General chairman was a class mother, Mrs. Calvin Reeves, •and the thoughtful band gave her a “Happy Birthday” fanfare, and a real do-up. Although most kids had rather dance than eat, they did both, along, as it was a buffet for real buffs (food, that is). As the dance sample rocked out. for the time, Rickey, for the Juniors, extended a cordial welcome to guests - Seniors, faculty and all, and voiced appreciation for the fine turnout at the festive occasion. (Decorations to be outlined later in article.) Senior Pres. Joe Poff (Mr. ‘73 Valedictorian, by the way) brought the expression of appreciation from his Class, both to their hosts, and the Junior mothers and others who so generously assisted. Then Richey got the super-Awards Night, of the Academy of Friends, off the ground and real high The liens contained both chuckles and belly-laughs and were clever, and how. TP L shares Texans' special pride in a natural environment. And the Company is working to preserve all the environmental assets possible while providing adequate electric service throughout the territory. Air monitoring devices have been installed at lignite-fired generating plants as an aid in air quality control. Also, these plants have been equipped with electrostatic precipitators, devices which will remove substantial amounts of particulate matter from stack emissions. These efforts will help keep Texas air pure and healthful. To help conserve the natural landscape in every way possible, substations are low-profile structures with underground distribution facilities, screen-type fences and extensivelandscaping. Plant-site lakes are stocked with fish and opened to the public. An experimental catfish farm has been set up at the Trinidad generating plant.
