MICHAEL THOMAS President of the Class of 1967 In a short time the graduates of this class will be faced with the tradi- tional problems that all boys must face, i.e., becoming men. This transition from youth to manhood; from irresponsibility to responsibility; from depend- ents to providers is not an instantaneous one. It is rather the culmination of a set of values we have learned from our parents, our teachers, and our classmates. We are very fortunate to have matriculated at the English High School; for our school is uniquely designed to prepare us for the responsibilities that we must soon accept. English High School is a school steeped in rich tradition of academic and athletic success, but English High School is also an optimistically alive school always looking ahead toward the continued success of her graduates. The most distinguishable and memorable aspect of English High is its student body. I would like to express my thanks to the people who constitute this body. At English High School, we learn the most important lessons that we can be taught; we work, study, and compete with all kinds of people. We learn that economic, religious, and ethnic backgrounds are unimportant. This is the lesson that I will remember the longest. Looking back over our years at English High, we have much to be thankful for, that attempting to write about the people who have made our high school days a pleasant experience somehow seems impossible. I wish to extend to Mr. Malone and the entire faculty the sincere thanks of the entire senior class. I know that the best way to say “Thank You’’ will be for this year’s class to join in perpetuating the English High School tradition of honor and achievement. Michael Thomas ’67
